The Automation Engineering Team Leader will manage a team of engineers and technicians through development, program management, enhancements, programming, debugging, troubleshooting and implementation of existing and/or new automation systems and machinery.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Engineering, integration, programming and commissioning of automated systems.
- Develops system drawings using AutoCAD to produce engineering and production documentation as required using various Microsoft Office applications.
- Develops PC/PLC logic, servo motion, and HMI displays utilizing applicable software. Determines cell layout and develops robot programs using robot simulation software.
- Works closely with Production and Project Engineering in the development, application and requisitioning of applicable project requirements and implementation timelines.
- Engineers and programs appropriate safety circuits for automated equipment and cells.
- Works with Quality in the implementation of defect detection and scrap reduction.
- Assists the maintenance department with troubleshooting production equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering
- 10 years’ experience in developing automation systems
- Fanuc FAPT ladder II and III programming
- Fanuc Robot simulation
- Teach Pendant Programming – Fanuc R-J3, R-J3i, ABB 4 and 5
- Design of Electrical Panels, Wiring Diagrams and Cables
- AutoCAD
- PC office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Robot interface and integration design
- Network experience – Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Serial, DH
- PLC Programming – Allen Bradley 5, 500, 5000, Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal
- Allen Bradley applications, PLC, OIT/HMI, VFD, SERVO, Factory Talk
- Press process monitoring – Promess
- Mechanical design using SolidWorks is a plus
- Employees are expected to work onsite to attend in person meetings and collaborate as necessary
