The Pipefitter, Maintenance installs o The Pipefitter ensures reliability of the facility production capabilities by installing, servicing and repairing piping equipment. This position plays a key role in the development of systems and programs for long-term maintenance and with the testing and commissioning of the defined systems. This position may be required to support a 24-hour operation and respond to emergency calls in support of our Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Services Contract at the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR) in Peoria, Illinois.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports the measurement and improvement of Key Performance Indicator targets (Preventative Maintenance & Schedule
- compliance)
- Determines layout requirements, assembly, installation and maintenance of pipe systems, pipe supports and related hydraulic
- and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubrication, sprinkling as well as plant production and
- processing systems
- Applies knowledge of system operations and reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and specifications
- Tests systems for leaks and installs clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping and sprinkling systems
- Connects piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
- Operates power lifts and troubleshoot systems
- Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities
- Observes established safety procedures, rules and techniques, including wearing and using appropriate personal protection

- High School Diploma or GED
- Five years of plant operations experience, including extensive knowledge of and demonstrated field skills in day-to-day
- maintenance, commissioning and startup
- A Steamfitter/Pipefitter Certification; and must be able to obtain any license or permits required by federal, state, or local
- regulatory agencies to perform position duties
- Proven ability to read working, assembly and functional drawings, understand and work in compliance with applicable State’s
- Regulations and apply strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills
- Must be able to work in hot, humid environment, climb ladders, and carry/lift at least 50 pounds
