ALX Oncology is a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company focused on helping patients fight cancer by developing therapies that block the CD47 checkpoint pathway. The individual will provide accounting and finance expertise to support the business strategy for the company’s growing oncology portfolio. This position will report to the Director, Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting. ALX Oncology Inc. follows a hybrid work model (i.e., part-time in South San Francisco office with flexibility to work part-time remotely).

 

Responsibilities:

These may include but are not limited to: 

  • Ensuring accuracy of financial transactions and ensuring processes align with company accounting policies/procedures.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing in accordance with GAAP
  • Ability to maintain the general ledger of the parent company and foreign subsidiaries.
  • Preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for areas such as cash and investments, fixed assets, intercompany transactions and eliminations, CMC accruals, and various non-clinical related accruals. 
  • Responsible for obtaining, validating, and analyzing financial information to ensure CMC accruals are complete and accurate.
  • Assisting with SOX 404(b) testing and SEC reporting, as needed 
  • Responsibility for the preparation of schedules for the external audit related to their areas of responsibility and working directly with the audit team to resolve any questions they may have on these areas.
  • Supporting process improvements related to CMC and other areas, including elimination of redundancy, ad-hoc projects, and other duties assigned to help scale with company growth.
  • Supporting the organization in maintaining a work environment focuses on quality and that fosters learning, open communication, collaboration, integration and teamwork.

 

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related study
  • 2 years of public accounting experience or 5 year of related work experience
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Big 4 experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Experience with SEC Regulations and SOX compliance.
  • Experience in the life sciences, biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry highly desired.
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task and work in time sensitive situations to meet deadlines despite distractions and changing priorities, aptitude for planning/managing deadlines.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written), organizational, and project planning skills.
  • Must have ability to effectively work and communicate with all levels of employees throughout the company. Should be customer service driven and have positive outlook.
  • Previous experience with mid-sized ERP systems, preferably NetSuite, and other accounting software
  • Computer literacy required, with the ability to navigate computer systems with little or no assistance.  Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook software specifically experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to self-motivate and function independently, driven towards superior effort and performance, and the desire to work in a very dynamic environment. 

 

Salary:  $120,000-$145,000
