Amalgamated Sugar Company is seeking a Purchasing Agent to be responsible for managing the procurement of products and services, including I.T. hardware and software, facility maintenance, capital purchases and other centralized purchases. The Purchasing Agent oversees and executes procurement processes including sourcing, vendor management, supply agreements and order execution in accordance with department goals, procedures, and policy. Works with internal stakeholders to develop product and service specifications; drafts RFQ/RFP packages and manages the competitive bidding process. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with suppliers and other market participants; collaborates with internal stakeholders to achieve a high level of service and leads the evaluation and selection of vendors as well as the negotiation of supply contracts.

Additional Responsibilities:
Ensures company requirements for products and services are met in a timely and cost-effective manner. Utilizes competitive bidding process to deliver best overall value to the company. May lead sourcing team, manage sourcing events, create sourcing documents (RFQ/RFP), and lead contract and price negotiations. Ensures solutions align with business objectives of service, total cost, security of supply, quality, and policy compliance.
The Purchasing Agent implements strategies to meet/exceed annual savings targets for assigned categories. Works with suppliers to improve value delivery through supplier performance reviews. Collaborates with internal stakeholders at all levels to ensure company goals are achieved and conducts analyses and reports on managed spend, suppliers and market data. Identifies and qualifies potential suppliers for products and services, ensuring that beneficial, ethical, and open relationships are maintained.
Works to continually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of internal processes. Leads issue- resolution and corrective action process with vendors. The Purchasing Agent will perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field.
· 3 plus years in Procurement or Materials role with experience buying direct or indirect goods and services.
· OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
· APICS or ISM certification a plus
· Strong communication skills, written and oral and ability to understand and apply best practices in business and procurement
· Ability to read and comprehend legal documents, an understanding of business ethics and procurement law
· Proficient with MS Office applications, experience with ERP systems, JDE a plus

Pay: $14.65 - $27.79 per hour
