Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved & underserved communities around the world.

constellation, is our solution to providing reliable internet to the entire world. We are looking for talented technicians to help process Kuiper satellites to prepare them for launch into Low Earth Orbit.

Export Control Requirements :

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.

e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.

Key job responsibilities

  • Can apply a deep understanding of a broad range of tools, equipment, and handling machinery to accomplish your daily tasks effectively and efficiently
  • Upholds all safety requirements in all zones and work locations of responsibility
  • Assists in the development of new and junior team members and adheres to standards and procedures
  • Independently execute and prioritize work to meet production schedules
  • Integration and test of the Kuiper satellite and various complex sub-assemblies in a clean-room and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controlled environment
  • Rigging and critical lifts of bulky, sensitive flight hardware
  • Able to obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, and / or certifications as required
  • Use precision calibrated tools torque wrenches, multi-meters, optical inspection devices, micrometers and calipers
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
  • Run functional and environmental testing on units, including some basic troubleshooting operations
  • Use computer software programs for controlling tests
  • Check and inspect your work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, to ensure an efficient, safe and effective work environment
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as required
  • Shift schedule will vary, depending on production / launch schedules
  • Must be willing and able to perform extended travel up to 25% annually, either domestically or internationally as business needs demand

A day in the life

The Processing Technician will lead work to ensure junior technicians complete tasks and ensure procedures are adhered to and work is completed during quality and operations on flight hardware integration processes.

This position requires skill and experience in a variety of areas, including mechanical assembly, propellant loading, rigging, electrical checkouts and satellite troubleshooting.

In short, you will be responsible for a majority of the most critical tasks to process & integrate the Kuiper satellite for launch, ensuring high quality, workmanship and safety standards are adhered to on a daily basis.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in mechanical or electrical hardware assembly, test, and / or installation
  • Able to obtain and maintain a US Passport & must meet customs entry requirements to include but not limited to : Yellow Fever vaccine and other immunization requirements as recommended by the U.

S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, medical device, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environments
  • Experience in a fast-paced processing environment
  • Experience working with Foreign Object Debris (FOD), ESD sensitive hardware, and in a clean room
  • Experience with forklifts, cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment (including previous certifications)
  • A demonstrated ability in reading / understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to use multiple types of precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to rapidly change roles / responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment

Additional Requirements :

  • Able to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive assembly operations
  • Able to climb ladders, work in tight spaces, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
  • Able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassisted
