Amazon Web Services (AWS) Worldwide Public Sector Team (WWPS) is looking for a global Space Planner to support a fast-growing and geographically-expanding organization and work program. The AWS WWPS org delivers the security, speed, and value of the AWS Cloud to commercial and US Government-focused customers.
This position will be responsible for the day-to-day and forward-looking strategic space planning operations of AWS WWPS, globally. The role will be based in Arlington.
You will operate as a true business partner to business leaders, Finance, HR, Recruiting, and customers throughout AWS for a rapidly growing work program that spans multiple locations. You will have ownership of short- and long-term space planning, requiring the ability to operate at a tactical and strategic level and coordinate complex projects with a high degree of ambiguity. You will simultaneously act as an internal ambassador, educator, planner, and implementer. You must have a proven ability to plan ahead, manage time and resources effectively, and have passion for delivering results on behalf of your customers.
This role requires a high level of professionalism in working with business leaders throughout AWS and a high level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive information. The successful candidate will possess the ability to complete tasks quickly with little guidance, react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround, take effective action without having to know the complete picture, and the ability and desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You also understand the importance of being approachable and foster strong, trusted relationships while balancing frugality with creativity.
Key job responsibilities
- Proactive space allocation based on current and forecasted headcount across multiple organizations and locations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as HR, Facilities, Finance, Physical Security, Recruiting, Operations on tracking hire rates, transfers, seating capacity, and planning for future growth.
- Work with Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team on weekly engagement and space for new hires.
- Coordinate and manage office moves for internal re-stacks and cross-site moves.
- Manage and coordinate work with vendors including work order oversight, vendor, and client follow up.
- Coordinate with real estate and facilities contractors to ensure projects are appropriately scheduled and are completed on time.
- Establish and maintain open, positive relationships with team and customers.
- Keep key stakeholders informed, educated, and updated on current and future space requirements, including allocations, moves, construction, and expansion plans
- Communicates regularly with customers; creates mechanisms for self-service platforms, and gathers and acts on stakeholder feedback.

- University/undergraduate degree in business administration, engineering, hospitality, or a similar discipline or equivalent experience.
- Keen understanding of building systems and maintenance, vendor management, and customer service.
