Job summary
Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented and motivated Associate Compliance Specialist to be based in Arlington to support Amazon Web Services (AWS), a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, browsers and more.
This role will give the successful candidate an opportunity to join a collaborative, tight-knit team that is driving pioneering global initiatives as part of a business that is making history. ****Some travel, domestic and international, may be required.
The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, pragmatic, enjoy working hard and being challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
Key job responsibilities
--Operates within established frameworks and approaches with minimal guidance
--Exercises independent judgment in communicating with clients, works within established frameworks, interacts directly with outside counsel, and manages projects within broad or specialized substantive areas of responsibility
--Provides recommendations often and understands the implications of the overall compliance plan with some assistance
--Flags challenges and potential roadblocks in the compliance plan to leadership
--Writes rules as needed after researching an issue brought to his/her attention. Looks to constantly improve rule rationales
--Anticipates and preempts questions from Sr team members
--Researches, benchmarks and assesses current practice to make recommendations for changes to process
--Builds process and makes independent decisions about how to implement those aspects of the program
--Partners with various internal and external stakeholders on trainings, projects and issues.
--Ensures regulatory guidelines are implemented
--Creates tangible implementation plans for application of the law
--Creates program & project plans for regulatory changes
--Project manages parts of company-wide compliance projects
--Identifies, recommends and drafts Amazon or business partner messaging as needed to optimize compliance actions for leadership or Sr team member review
--Partners with the business directly on how to make communications and training more effective for their organization

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 1 years of prior work experience as a paralegal, regulatory compliance project manager
• Bachelor's degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Work experience with a law firm, corporate legal or compliance department, or government agency
• Experience in regulatory compliance including developing and implementing compliance processes and policies
• Experience with project management
• Experience with regulatory filings and reports
