Job summary
As a Category Manager apart of Amazon’s Global Procurement Organization, the Associate Commute Services team is responsible for strategic procurement of employee commute programs at operation sites globally. We partner with stakeholders to develop new and improved ways for Associates to get to work, reducing overall drive-alone commute trips, traffic congestion, carbon emissions, and parking demand. Many Associate Commute Services programs also improve Associate morale, recruitment, retention, and positively impact community engagement.
This position main focus is working with government municipalities to enhance the public transportation services for our operations. Successful candidates will be natural self-starters who are comfortable leading complex projects.
Key job responsibilities
• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding your categories; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed
• Establish sourcing strategies to operationalize and scale across a global network
• Support, align, and partner with multiple teams to develop and execute sourcing strategies
• Negotiate and implement supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and supplier to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions
• Identify, achieve, and report on savings and value targets for category sourcing activities
• Create and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to show performance and proactively identify risk
• Develop and maintain relationships with municipalities
• Drive industry best practice that meets the business’ goals supported by a culture of continuous improvement
• Create quality analysis on a day-to-day basis
• Create buy-in for the vision with key internal partners
Travel expectation: up to 30%
• Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Transportation Management, Business Administration, or related field
• 3 years of experience in supply chain operations, transportation planning, urban planning, procurement, category management or program management
• Experience building processes, project management, and employing effective risk management to large programs
• 3 years experience with Microsoft Excel
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certificate
• Experience working with Transportation Agencies/Government Municipalities
• 5 years of procurement, transportation program management experience
• Experience in Coupa or other financial/inventory management software
• Lean / Six-Sigma knowledge
