Our organization’s vision is to use science to automate forecasting, allocation, pricing and purchasing decisions for the Devices business. We build science and technology to create Hands Off the Wheel systems that automate pricing and promotions, creating operating and financial efficiencies for Amazon Devices. We are an interdisciplinary team that combines the talents of science and engineering to develop and deliver solutions that measurably achieve this goal.
We are looking for an experienced science leader to tackle complex and ambiguous pricing optimization problems that span numerous systems and organizations across the Devices business (Echo Device Family, FireTV, eReaders, Tablets etc.). They will work with senior scientists across the organization to define the strategy and requirements to build pricing and promotion optimization services. This includes designing, coordinating, and executing solutions that scale globally.
Key job responsibilities
As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for large scale price optimization deliveries that have significant impact on the Devices business. You will partner with product, science and engineering leadership to identify opportunities to drive efficient growth for Devices through science-based pricing optimization and scalable execution. You will not only be responsible for designing systems that span across the organization but have ownership in critical path delivery. A portion of your time will be responsible for defining best practices within our organization, mentoring other scientists and partnering with engineering to enhance mechanisms between the two disciplines. A deep understanding of optimization and solvers such as xpress, ilog, OSL, gurobi, etc. is required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD, or Master's degree and 4 years of quantitative field research experience
- Experience investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products
- Experience analyzing both experimental and observational data sets
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of R, MATLAB, Python or similar scripting language
- Experience with agile development
- Experience building web based dashboards using common frameworks

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
