The Technical Infrastructure Program Manager (TIPM) oversees the deployment of robotics solutions at Amazon fulfillment centers for both new construction and existing building retrofits. They are responsible for working with partner teams and external vendors to develop and manage a budget, keep the project on schedule, and oversee the appropriate resource requests and management within a project. The technologies deployed can be at various points in the product lifecycle ranging from newly developed internal technologies to mature technologies supplied by external vendors. The Project Manager is also responsible for identifying team members who have development opportunities and working with those team members to advance their skills sets. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of strong stakeholder communication in their previous work experience including with internal and external partners and within multiple levels of the candidate’s organization. The work scopes are technical in nature and include extensive work with networking and IT related challenges as well as hardware and traditional project management skill sets.


This specific TIPM role sits within the New Product Integration (NPI) development team, building reverse logistics programs to create circularity from waste streams generated through new product installation. The ideal candidate will be technically adept (hardware and IT handling) and be passionate about creating circular sustainable systems through reverse logistics programs. The individual must be self-motivated and able to work with complete ambiguity as "Think Big" and "Bias for Action" are critical Leadership Principals for this role. The PM will typically be managing both internal and external engineers who work directly with troubleshooting the robotics equipment being installed and decommissioned. Candidate be able to recognize and stop non-value-added work, devise solutions, get rid of obstacles, and think of innovative ways to speed up project delivery. A passion for sustainability is a must.


Project duration can range from a few days to several months and include travel across the US and should the candidate be open to it some international work.


This position requires 75% travel. Valid US driver’s license required.


Key skills include:


Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, track, and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Expertise in robotics engineering, including knowledge of robotic systems, components, and software.

Strong bias towards taking independent initiative while reporting these efforts up to their leadership

Communication skills with customer facing interactions and data reporting around project status and overviews on the technologies being deployed

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Ability to function independently and while managing a team of 1-10 engineers and related trades during deployments

Integrated schedule management to coordinate with different teams working on the project both within and outside of Amazon Robotics.

Ability to oversee and resolve escalations during robotics deployment including quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, operational readiness testing, monitoring robotics system performance, etc.

Ability capture lessons learned and conduct retrospective reviews to develop and drive technical continuous improvement projects

Responsible for delivering projects by owning key KPIs around on-time delivery, cost, quality, and sustainability.

Ability to track and maintain a budget including reporting out project updates and negotiating change orders with suppliers and deployment partners.

Ability to read technical drawings and/or reading CAD models.

Ability to balance competing demands of internal and external customers


**Relocation to Amazon Corporate offices in Seattle, Boston, Detroit or Nashville is supported but not required


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS*

BA/BS degree in Engineering or related STEM field or BS/BA in Business or Supply Chain with 3 years of additional technical experience, preferably in AWS, Robotics, Networking, or Engineering

* 3 years of Project Management experience including scope, schedule management software, budget, quality, interactions with subcontractors, along with risk and critical path management

* 3 years of experience managing projects in a Robotics Deployment, Construction, Field Engineering, Network Infrastructure, or Manufacturing environment

* 1 years’ experience with business intelligence and data visualization and reporting tools (e.g. Tableau)

* 1 years' experience with AWS or other cloud platform preferred


Contract Length: 9 months

Location: Boston, Arlington (East coast Amazon Hubs) 75% travel required

Pay Range: $50 - $55 per hour
