COMPENSATION:  $100k-122k per year

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

JOB OVERVIEW

The position is responsible for initiating the development and managing the progress of multiple assays/tests. The position will evaluate relevant literature, research data, new technologies, and software programs to support new assay development at Ambry.

1. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead the development of new tests with existing or novel methods; e.g., PCR, Sanger sequencing, next generation sequencing, single-cell assays, etc.
2. Supervise and coordinate projects with R&D team members and employees from other departments.
3. Serve as main author of publications. Perform data analysis and compilation for publications.
4. Assist in troubleshooting of problems in the laboratory. Devise solutions to overcome technical issues.
5. Research and assess new technologies, software, reagents, and robotics for potential implementation in new assays or for budgetary savings for existing tests.

 EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Ph.D. in molecular biology, biomedical sciences, cellular biology, or related field
• Strong knowledge of molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, and assay development
• Strong background in oncology or other fields covered by Ambry diagnostic tests

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

• Capable of excelling within a team environment
• Capable of assigned workload and additional projects with minimal supervision
• Ability to communicate effectively, maintain a high level of organization, and to prioritize efficiently
• Ability and desire to work in fast-paced environment
• Extensive molecular and cellular biology skills demonstrated through multiple first author publications
• Proficient with a broad range of techniques, such as PCR, nucleic acid isolation, cell culture, Sanger sequencing, next-generation sequencing, microscopy, and data acquisition and analysis
• Ability to read and interpret documents, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively one-on-one and in group settings with clients, vendors, and employees of the organization
• Strong computer and bioinformatics skills
• Proficient in Word, Excel, primer design, sequencing software, and other software programs used by Ambry.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 2 years postdoctoral training plus 2 years professional experience
