As a Programmer / Analyst, you'll play an important role in the operation of the agency. You'll help design technical solutions to address business problems and support initiatives: by writing code, creating and updating database tables, views, and stored procedures, and working with the members of your team creatively and collaboratively to ensure the reliable function of systems and tools. Some projects will involve working with outside entities and will require interfacing with and adapting to requirements developed externally, while others will be internally facing. In addition, you will be asked to:
Execute AMBA’s data acquisition and management strategy by managing and maintaining enterprise data assets – write queries, import/export records, perform data hygiene operations, work with vendors to enhance existing data sets or acquire new ones
Create and manage automated recurring tasks to support dataflow requirements across systems using tools including Mulesoft, SSIS packages, and API integrations
Work with internal business partners to support efforts to build and activate data warehouse assets and business intelligence tools
Modify existing systems – create enhancements and patches to systems currently in production
Use common best-practice tools – keep your code in a versioning system, use IDEs for development
Manage your projects – keep your peers and leaders informed on progress, issues, and timelines
Requirements
3 years using SQL to create database objects and query data (DDL and DML)
Deep understanding of database normalization and applicable information theory
Understanding and familiarity with ETL tools and processes
Familiarity with industry standard tools for managing and manipulating data across multiple platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2)
Ability to use code versioning system (git preferred)
Excellent problem solving skills
Ability to multi-task & learn fast
Ability to handle instructions/duties/tasks from multiple sources
Comfortable with feedback and able to provide feedback to team members in a positive constructive manner
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Well organized and detail oriented
Ability to work independently and without immediate supervision
