Amentum is currently seeking a Network Engineer to support the Quality Assurance Branch of the Prototyping Integration Facility (PIF) of the Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Center (C5ISR) at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. The Network Engineer will provide network engineering functions to include conceptualization, design, implementation, and optimization. This position will also assess evolving user needs and translate those needs into network changes through network configuration, hardware and software acquisitions, installation, and test. This project will provide the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Futures Command, U.S. Special Forces and the U.S. Marine Corps integration of C5ISR operational prototypes onto a range Military Weapon Systems & Platforms (air, ground & sea) as well as performing C5ISR prototyping, integration, and testing support based on Real-World emerging needs of the Warfighter.
Stays knowledgeable in the application of current and emerging network software and hardware technology and protocols, providing recommendations to the Government and Team on best use.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Government's inter-operability subject matter expert (SME) for the network.
- Recommend the network architecture/design for the testing of C5ISR communication equipment and to recommend system of system configuration for thorough testing of customer products.
- Support customer in determining what the architecture should look like and its impact when the overall network is modified.
- Knowledge of how wireless networks are implemented by the Army, with the ability to articulate the benefits or impacts of implementing network recommendations to meet Army objectives through experimentation.
- Knowledge of Army's Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) architecture.
- Digest current issues, recommend solutions and translate that solution into a testable architecture.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the application of current and emerging network software and hardware technology and protocols, providing recommendations to the Government and Team on best use.
- Basic knowledge of Army Tactical Vehicles.
- Understand operational usage of C5ISR communication equipment to develop test cases/scenarios to realistically capture network data flow.
- Interface with customer to understand products and equipment usage to suggest test configuration.
- Participate in customer communications, requirement determinations, and project proposal/cost estimate creation for design and development projects.
- Keep senior managers informed of all significant issues and external taskers.
- Provide authoritative information and advice within the area of assignment.
- Responsible for managing cost, technical, performance and schedule issues to ensure high quality products for the Army.
- Provide instruction, as required, to junior network engineers, or serve as a coordinator and planner for large and complex projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related scientific /technical discipline
- Must have at least 10 years' experience
- Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance. Please note US Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- C5ISR experience
- Knowledge and experience with Department of Defense (DOD)/Army plans, policies, standards, and methods aimed at the acquisition and support of military systems
