WORK DESCRIPTION:

Project Managers in the IT Project Management Office (PMO) would manage projects, resources, budgets, vendor and business relationships. This position will mainly lead cross-departmental teams in delivering infrastructure and security projects across various Operations Teams within IT and may also lead cross-departmental teams in delivering various types of IT Projects for various business units such as Electric Service Delivery (ESD), Finance, IT, Customer Care, Customer Account Management, Customer Energy Solutions, Power Production, Energy and Market Operations.

Include specific Essential duties and functions may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned:

  1. Manage project from beginning to end, submit proposals, and recommend subsequent budget, scope and schedule changes and/or contingency plans where necessary
  2. Develop project scope, project charter, cost estimates, human resource requirements, RACI, work plans, time schedules, communication plans, and make work assignments to meet project or program objectives
  3. When necessary, assist in writing Request for Information/Request for Proposals for external services and business plans for internal executive approval
  4. Develop project plans and associated communications documents; identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path, and track and report on project milestones and deliverables
  5. Develop written business requirements and models
  6. Request the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals and where required, from other department managers and participate in the acquisition of required personnel within the City of Austin
  7. Own the business relationship with subject matter experts and their leadership from project kickoff to close out
  8. Direct tasks/work for a project team comprised of subject matter experts from Utility IT, Business, and external vendors
  9. Define the project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle
  10. Effectively communicate project expectations to sponsor, team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion, and facilitate project management and project status review meetings
  11. Publish the project weekly status reports and monthly PowerPoint presentation to stakeholders on the project in the required format.
  12. Develop successful transition, training plans and recognition for resources on the project/operational team
  13. Assist in the development of a forecast/project timeline and project plan.

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Business or Management, Engineering, computer science, computer information

systems, or management information systems

YES

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI

Demonstrated experience in implementation of large-scale IT/OT enterprise application/ Cloud Solution projects and/or Infrastructure/Security Projects (scope, schedules, budgets, resources) including, but not limited to, creating artifacts, identifies and manages project dependencies, critical path, milestones, issues, risks, and deliverables

Experience in systems integration projects

Demonstrated application of project management techniques, WBS (work breakdown structure) development, and coordination of people and resources

Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, Power Point, SharePoint, and Visio, WebEx

Proficient in change management methodologies

4-7

Proficient in presenting to multiple levels within an organization

Experience in vendor and contract management including, but not limited to, RFIs, RFPs, SOWs and SLAs

Experience deploying network infrastructure, and/or Security Services

Familiarity working with a government entity
