What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator, Constituency Programs position at American Association for Cancer Research?
Overview
This position supports the development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of various programs, awards, and activities organized by AACR-Minorities in Cancer Research (MICR) and AACR-Women in Cancer Research (WICR), and assists with communications, marketing, engagement, services, and membership management for both association groups.
Responsibilities
- Supports initiatives of the AACR-Minorities in Cancer Research Council and AACR-Women in Cancer Research Council.
- Works closely with the Senior Manager, Director, and leadership of the Councils to manage and evaluate programs and services relative to each group’s mission.
- Engages with members and supports the work of various committees for AACR-Minorities in Cancer Research (MICR) and AACR-Women in Cancer Research (WICR)
- Assists with administering awards and prize programs, including marketing via various mediums such as print (direct, posters, brochures, etc.), phone, online/digital (email, social media, website); application submission and selection process; program evaluation, and management of alumni groups.
- Supports and develops content for relevant web pages on the AACR website, electronic newsletters, and other internal and external public relations and marketing communications.
- Schedules virtual and in-person meetings and conference calls, develops agendas in consultation with leadership, produces meeting materials, creates PowerPoint presentations, and drafts meeting minutes.
- Interacts and works cross functionally with various other departments within the AACR to promote and ensure the representation and inclusion of minority and women investigators in cancer research.
- Attends AACR and industry conferences to market programs, recruit students and faculty, and promote AACR membership, awards, and other opportunities, often working extended hours.
- Produces reports, track trends, and collects data relevant to constituency groups.
- Maintains accurate files and archival records.
- Performs other essential tasks and duties required of the position in order to support the Senior Manager and Director as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3-5 years of related experience, preferably in a non-profit environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate in an enthusiastic and passionate manner
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to details in the performance of tasks and functions.
- Ability to meet frequent deadlines, manage and follow-through on multiple tasks, and work well under time constraints.
- Proficient in MS Office products with a strong knowledge of Excel or other database programs.
