Position Purpose:
The Community Impact Project Manager is accountable for the project management of integrated Community Impact (CI) work, especially around marketing, communications, and design; process improvement of CI project management, processes, and workflows; and change management through facilitating and leading improvements, collaboration and education both within Community Impact as well as with the other AACN departments CI works with.


The Community Impact Project Manager may have expertise in one or multiple areas (marketing, communications, design, or data analytics) in addition to process improvement and change management. The CI Project Manager will be primarily responsible for project management and working knowledge of and across all areas. This role will be highly collaborative; interacting and communicating with Community Impact team members, and other teams/team members (e.g., IT) throughout the Association. The position works independently and without close supervision.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Ensures effective project management that supports department and organizational goals and objectives.
    • Creates project plans from marketing strategies developed by the Marketing Strategist and/or Marketing Manager and communicates the project plans; leads and executes on the project plans through to the completion of the projects; attentive to data on the work’s impact, triggering review by the Marketing Strategist and/or project sponsor if needed; evaluates and debriefs the projects and incorporates lessons learned into future project plans.
    • Works collaboratively with Community Impact Managers and other stakeholder leads to assess and prioritize requests, and to identify and communicate resources needed to achieve project objectives.
    • Evaluates and adjusts project plans and priorities as necessary.
    • Anticipates barriers and risks to project plans, and works with leaders, team members and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues before they hinder a project’s progress.
    • Maintains frequent communications with CI Managers, team members, stakeholders, and/or vendors so that all parties are up-to-date on the status of the projects.


  • Ensures effective process improvement.
    • Identifies areas for process improvement; develops process improvement strategy and project plan; researches processes and collaborates with team members and stakeholders to generate improvements; documents and implements the process improvement.
    • Develops, implements, and evaluates tools and processes to ensure effective management of CI projects.


  • Facilitates and ensures effective change management.
    • Creates change management plan for facilitating process improvement changes; facilitates change, which could be on the individual, department and/or organizational level – including, but not limited to, relationship building, strategic communication, removing barriers, supporting with resources, providing training, modeling the change and behaviors, reinforcing and coaching.


  • Other duties as required.

Skills Required:

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to create and lead execution of project plans, from beginning to completion.
  • Strong process improvement skills, with the ability to create and lead execution of process improvement strategy and plans, from ideation and research through implementation.
  • Change management orientation, with the ability to create and facilitate change management plans, from strategy through implementation, and reinforcement.
  • Ability to be assigned any project within Community Impact, even if outside of one’s primary expertise (i.e., marketing, communications, design), and still manage the project proficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to evaluate results, receive and incorporate feedback and learnings into behavior, work and project plans.
  • Role models and integrates established team norms and processes into work and relationships.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize requests, determine appropriate resources, carry out major assignments and evaluate and make recommendations.
  • Ability to assess upstream and downstream impacts of project changes, delays, and issues, as well as have the critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills required to deliver expected project goals and objectives.
  • Excellent communication and behavioral skills that facilitate change management and relationship building, including but not limited to the interpersonal people skills of collaboration, respect, and building trust with others, and strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to multitask, manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintain multiple priorities, regularly exercise discretion, adhere to stringent deadlines and function effectively under pressure, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly accurate, detail oriented and organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively build collaborative relationships and interact with all levels and functions within the organization.
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently with minimal guidance, regularly exercise discretion, self-starter and result driven.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Forms), and project management software (such as Smartsheet).

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, preferably marketing, communications, or design is preferred
  • 3 years minimum project management experience collaborating with or leading interdisciplinary teams.
  • Project management certification is a plus.
  • Experience in healthcare is a plus.

Total Compensation:


The target pay range for this role is $84,828 - $106,035**
