What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Camp and Conference Workers position at American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island?
American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island (ABCORI) is seeking seasonal workers for our summer operations at Canonicus Camp and Conference Center. From mid- June to mid-September, seasonal workers will help with food service, maintenance, hospitality and general activities to ensure that events are well-managed and high quality experiences for our guests.
Full and part-time opportunities available. Evening and weekend work required. Flexible Scheduling. No experience required, but experience is rewarded. High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. Candidates most willing to shift between different roles as needs shift will be eligible for more regular schedules with more hours.
Kitchen work includes:
· Maintaining food safety standards at all times making sure all food is free of contaminant and that might make guests sick
· Assisting in daily operations of food preparation, serving, and cleaning
· Using kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
· Transporting and setting up/breaking down food orders within the Meadowwood Conference Center neatly, quickly and on time
· Upholding highest standards of customer service
Maintenance work includes:
· Cleaning and setting facilities for incoming groups and events
· Visually inspecting facilities and equipment and noting needed repairs or safety hazards
· Moving equipment as needed
· Keeping grounds neat and free of obstacles and litter
· Tracking facility supplies and submitting requests as needed
· Emptying trash and recycling receptacles as needed
· Assisting in building repair and maintenance as directed
Hospitality work includes:
· Ensuring that guest lodging and meeting rooms are clean and set to contract prior to arrival
· Distributing bed linens in lodging room. Collecting dirty linen at end-of-stay. Monitoring linen supplies
· Assisting in key distribution and collection
· Responding to and assisting with event needs as they arise
· Creating guest name badges as needed
· Be an on-site ABCORI representative
Office work includes:
· Greeting guests and visitors and assisting them is completing their business on site.
· Assisting with mailings, copying and filing
· Answering phones and directing calls appropriately
· Preparing information packets for mailing
ABCORI runs as a team and all roles have additional duties assigned based on event needs. It is likely to work more than one role in a shift. Applicants should be willing to work hard, learn new skills. All roles require:
· A strong customer service orientation
· Good listening and communication skills
· An ability to take direction
· An ability to lift up to 50lbs
· An ability to stand for long periods of time
· Reliable transportation
