Title:                   Visitor Experience Assistant

Business:          Faith and Liberty Discovery Center (FLDC), LLC

Reports to:       Visitor Experience Manager

Location:          Philadelphia, PA

 

Position Objective:

A Visitor Experience Assistant (VEA) is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all Faith and Liberty Discovery Center (FLDC) guests.  A VEA must be knowledgeable and able to facilitate all FLDC products including admission sales, retail sales, discounts, merchandise, and programs.  

This position, as part of a team of VEAs and are first in line to welcome and engage with guests to FLDC.  The VEAs, will be responsible for cashiering duties, ushering guests through the exhibit, hosting the Liberty’s Light theater exhibit, providing group orientations, and collecting the interactive Lamp devices provided to each guest during their visit.  All VEAs are expected to ensure that the Center’s safety standards and procedures are followed as well as being flexible to assist in other areas of FLDC as needed.

Qualified VEAs will have a passion the mission of the Faith and Liberty Discovery Center which explores the relationship between faith and liberty in America from its founding to today, by illuminating the influence of the Bible on individuals in key historical and personal moments.

 

Specific Roles / Responsibilities:

  • Embody Faith and Liberty Discovery Center standards of service to guests and coworkers
  • Facilitate both admission sales (ticketing) and retail sales (gift store)
  • Welcome guests upon entering FLDC
  • Assist guests with general information inquiries both related to FLDC and the surrounding area
  • Collect, sanitize, and redistribute Lamp devices as guests exit FLDC Host Liberty’s Light theater experience
  • Maintain knowledge of the exhibits and content and proactively engage with guests as well as answer questions
  • Provide orientation for group visitors
  • Miscellaneous task such as stocking public areas, organizing coat room, conduct gallery walk-throughs
  • Play a key role in fostering a hospitable, welcoming, and inclusive environment for guests
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

  • Able to calmly and effectively direct large crowds
  • Public speaking both to individuals and large crowds
  • Able to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff and guests
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment individually or as part of team
  • Able to demonstrate professionalism and exceptional customer-centric skill when interacting with the public
  • Flexible schedule required must be available Saturdays, evenings, and holidays.
  • Available for 21-28 hours weekly (3-4 days), Shifts maybe 9-5pm, 9:30-5:30pm, 10-6pm
  • Position requires some outdoor work as needed (greeting groups). Generally, the position is an indoor office position with floor responsibilities.

 

Desired Candidate Profile / Experience: 

The ideal candidate will have the following professional experience and skills:

  • Interest in the Bible and the intersection of Scripture’s inspiring influence throughout American history
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, written, communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to both work independently and as part of a supervised team
  • Must enjoy working with the public and demonstrate friendliness, professionalism, enthusiasm, and a customer-centric approach.
  • Experience with POS (point of sale systems) and cash handling

 

Working Conditions:

  • Requires work involving: standing, sitting, talking, or hearing. Walking, gripping or feeling with hands, reaching with hands and arms.
  • Physical Requirements: Lifting up to 30 lbs. Ability to ascend and descend stairs. Able to stand for long periods and/or be mobile, on one’s feet.
  • Visual Requirements: Extensive computer use.
  • Hearing Requirements: Phone use, radio use and conversation in loud environments

High School diploma
