Accounting Specialist

American Contract Bridge League, headquartered in Horn Lake, MS, is the largest bridge organization in North America, serving over 165,000 members. Every year, we sanction over 3.5 million tables of bridge, played in more than 3,000 bridge clubs and 1,100 sectional and regional tournaments, plus 1 million tables played online. ACBL has an immediate opening for an Accounting Specialist. The Accounting Specialist is a primary contributor to daily, monthly, and yearly accounting processes. This position will provide support to the Controller in daily activities as well as reconcile cash, maintain tournament A/R & revenue ledgers, review expense reports, payroll support, and financial reporting. The selected candidate will be committed to learning about the game of bridge and the business processes that support our organization.

• Assist with bi-weekly payroll preparation by reviewing timekeeping records and related reports, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Contribute to month-end closing including sending our monthly department reports, closing the ledgers, posting accruals and reclasses, as well as bank reconciliations and general account reconciliations (revenue recognition, prepaid insurance, investments).
• Prepare daily cash reports using information from our US and Canadian banks.
• Post tournament revenues and maintain our tournament accounts receivable by communicating with tournament sponsors.
• Maintain financial records for a smaller intercompany charitable foundation.
• Scan paperwork into our electronic filing system and maintain careful records.
• Use multiple software systems to keep track of data.
• Resolve payment discrepancies by understanding our processes and conducting research in our software systems and in collaboration with other departments.
• Strive to understand the consequences that tasks and transactions have on the organization’s processes.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma; Accounting college coursework is preferred

Three years of Accounting experience, including accounts payable and receivables

Working knowledge of Great Plains, AS400, Microsoft Office & Teams, and electronic filing

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
