AWS Cloud Engineer II

Overview

As an AWS Cloud Engineer II at American Credit Acceptance, you will be taking on more advanced responsibilities in implementing and managing AWS cloud solutions. Your focus will be on configuring, optimizing, and maintaining cloud resources and infrastructure to ensure the continued success of our organization's applications and infrastructure.

This is a full-time position based in our Spartanburg, SC office. The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite during regular business hours.

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with the senior cloud engineers to design advanced cloud infrastructure solutions and automation systems.
• Apply your experience to analyze and design complex software solutions, make informed technology choices, and ensure solution robustness.
• Utilize monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, and Uptime.com to maintain system and performance monitoring, defining key performance indicators (KPIs) for solution architecture.
• Actively participate in testing software releases and security patches before deployment, leveraging your expertise in Infrastructure-As-Code (IaC) and automation tools.
• Foster daily communication with support teams, development teams, and other DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration and collaboration.
• Lead efforts to proactively address system escalations by developing automation-driven solutions to enhance system stability.
• Assist with the mentoring and training of junior team members.
• Generation of monthly reports detailing cloud OpEx
• Creation and maintenance of infrastructure documentation in knowledge base system
• Generation and consolidation of server and DB sizing data for performance increases and/or cost savings

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field preferred
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency in designing and implementing cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Strong expertise in infrastructure such as code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation or AWS SDK.
• Advanced skills in monitoring, alert management, and routine maintenance of AWS resources.
• In-depth knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards within AWS.
• Experience with advanced backup and disaster recovery solutions for data and services.
• Exceptional documentation skills for cloud configurations and operational processes.
• Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex cloud-related issues and incidents.
• Effective communication skills and proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday.  The daily schedule may vary from 8 am to 5 pm or 9 am to 6 pm.  Hours may vary or exceed 40 in any given week depending on the needs of the business.

Travel

Up to 5% travel is expected for this position.
