Engine Room Attendant – Unlicensed Engineer
American Cruise Lines is seeking Engine Room Attendants for our growing fleet sailing unique itineraries along inland and coastal waterways of the East Coast, Pacific Northwest, Columbia-Snake Rivers and Mississippi-Ohio-Cumberland Rivers. Our U.S. flag ships are state-of-the art designed for safe operation and five-star service to 100-200 guests.
Engine Room Attendant is the onboard crewmember responsible for the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of all vessel machinery, equipment, and systems. Machinery, equipment, and systems include: pumps, motors, engines, electrical, plumbing, water makers, marine safety devices, elevators, electronics, launches, rescue craft, and other equipment Engine Room Attendants perform liquid load transfers, watering, refueling, and used oil disposal. Engine Room Attendants report directly to the shipboard Mate for daily vessel operations and maintenance. Engine Room Attendants coordinate machinery and system repairs through Regional Port Engineers. Engine Room Attendants report to Regional Engineer Managers for professional development, rotation schedule, job task training, and mentoring. In this role, Engine Room Attendants are the 24hr shipboard engineer completing routine operations, inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and 24hr response to machinery and system issues.
Responsibilities:
- Execution of safe, secure, clean, and comfortable onboard environment for passengers and crew
- Safe operation of machinery, equipment, and systems adhering to company and regulatory standards
- Meticulous daily maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery, equipment, and systems
- Comprehensive hourly inspections of machinery and engineering spaces
- Daily 1-2 hr Deck Security Watch and Daily 24hr assist with vessel docking, maintenance, and logistics
- Daily morning updates and teamwork with Hotel Officers and Service Crew ensuring five-star guest service
- Administrative documentation of daily liquid loads, machinery, equipment, systems, consumables inventory
- 24hr response, troubleshooting, and repair of shipboard machinery and systems
- Oversight of shipboard contractor repairs to machinery, equipment, and systems
- Maintain exemplar professional grooming and uniform appearance
- Year-round Season rotation 4-6 weeks on: 2 weeks off
Qualifications:
- Experience with diesel machinery, hydraulics, electrical systems
- Self-disciplined work habits and personal grooming
- Good communication skills and team skills
- TWIC – Transportation Worker Identification Card
- Pre-employment drug test and continual participation in random testing
