Global Commercial Services (GCS) provides a range of card programs and expense management tools to help large, medium, and small businesses around the world manage almost all the facets of their business spending. The GCS Lead Financial Office (LFO) team is responsible for providing financial management, decision support, and planning & results analysis to the Chief Commercial Officer and her direct reports to help achieve BU and AXP financial targets. The team works closely with GCS business partners and multiple Finance teams to drive insights which have a meaningful impact on GCS business strategy.
This position will be part of a team focused on strategic decision support for Supply Chain Solutions (BIP and Early Pay), analyzing buyer / supplier attrition and concentration risk, understanding product / pricing dynamics in a rising interest rate environment, examining the expansion of distribution channels to onboard more clients, and assisting the product team with strategies to drive profitable growth for the portfolio.
The team collaborates and interacts with key Finance teams across AXP as well as our GCS and GMNS business partners, Risk, Pricing, Performance & Insights (PPI), and other cross-functional teams to help deliver against the strategic and financial objectives. Agile thinking, strong strategic acumen, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to influence business partners are vital skills for success in the role.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate a range of options to protect and accelerate Supply Chain Solutions growth including product development, value proposition enhancements, and partnerships
- Build and enhance the profitability data across the portfolio
- Work closely with GMNS and other Finance teams to evaluate potential growth / partnership opportunities in Supply Chain Solutions
- Leverage a strong external perspective, including knowledge of Supply Chain Financing dynamics, to proactively help shape business strategy
- Enhancing investment analysis that includes strengthening ROI valuations and challenging existing methodologies
- Partnering across GCS Finance and business teams to ensure return estimates appropriately reflect product-specific acquisition costs and margins
- Own and lead recurring Finance processes:
- Complete strategic and financial planning processes (e.g., monthly R&Os and reviews, annual plan, investment optimization, and long-range plan)
- Analyze portfolio/market trends and identify key drivers of forecasted performance
- Partner with PPI to enhance product reporting capabilities
- Intellectual curiosity and the ability to thrive and succeed in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to collaborate across teams to find the optimal data source, approach, and solution
- Ability to break down complex ideas into clear and actionable messages
- Ability to provide thought leadership and creativity in solving challenging business problems
- Ability to present to and influence senior leaders, finance colleagues, and business partners
- Experience with SQL and Cornerstone or a willingness to learn is a must
- Strong working proficiency of Excel and PowerPoint
