Base Salary: 70,000-85,000 starting base pay depending on experience with opportunity for additional bonus

Job Summary:
The buying position requires multi-faceted skill sets, including expertise in retail furniture management, purchasing, design, and business acumen. Most of your daily schedule in this position will be spent managing a large inventory of products and the ability several times a year to travel domestically and internationally to markets. Previous Retail Furniture management, furniture buying, or a combination of experience is required. A design degree and/or a business degree are a bonus. A combination of retail management experience and education is needed for this position. The position is a corporate position, and the candidate must be able to work from the corporate offices in Englewood.
In conjunction with the executive team, develop the overall strategy for product categories and research new product options in the category to drive sales and achieve targets.
Provide category insights and proposals by analyzing marketing and customer data and monitoring relevant market conditions.
Work closely with sales teams to determine optimal pricing through analysis of sales trends, competitors, and buying habits of products to promote sales opportunities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Determine the appropriate mix of products for the category including style and price point considerations in order to drive sales
- Attend markets and trade shows including US and international shows.
- Negotiate pricing and terms from vendors.
- Responsible for re-ordering and flow of products to meet the rate of sale
- Determine quality and specification requirements for the product. Determine markup pricing.
- Obtain information about customer needs or preferences by visiting and communicating with all company stores.
- Work with manufacturers on terms and ongoing support such as procurement of parts and handling of post-sale issues.
- Supervise buyers’ assistants who are responsible for data entry
- Work with other buyers to contribute to overall product strategy for all categories
- Work with in-house representatives, trainers, and store managers to provide appropriate product information needed for training sales associates
- Work with the marketing team on all promotions. Helping select appropriate products and pricing for marketing efforts.
- Work with logistics to determine appropriate product flow and assist with issues in obtaining a product.
- As part of the leadership team, this person will work with senior leadership to develop and implement company strategy.
- Assist with decisions on product placement in stores and assist with new store openings.
- Keep up with industry trends and designs.
- Keep up with the competition in the furniture space including online and in stores to ensure our competitive place in the marketplace.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent communicator and team player.
- Ability to regularly travel to all stores and furniture markets including out-of-state travel.
- Ability to run Storis reports and understand how they affect sales and product flow
- Ability to attend weekly corporate meetings and floor walks.
Pay range: $70,000 – 85,000 is the starting range, with consideration for experience and education.
