We are hiring a Director, Prospect Research Analyst, reporting to the Senior Director, Volunteer Stewardship in the SouthWest region.This is a remote position with the preference that the ideal candidate lives within one of the states of the SouthWest region, but not required. The region includes Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming.

 

In this role, you will handle prospect research for the SouthWest region. As well as identify and receive leads, research prospects through exploration and analysis of all relevant databases and other publications, develop comprehensive written profiles, and will help prepare key staff members and volunteers to make individual and corporate gift asks from both individuals and corporations. Other duties include documentation of all information reported in profiles and for maintenance of prospect research records.

Responsibilities

Some of the job duties:

  • Perform prospect identification and research; meet with development staff to support activities, initiatives, and programs.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and overall fundraising strategies.
  • Present appropriate materials in response to requests for information, including but not limited to, in-depth individual profiles, summary information to support major solicitation and/or stewardship events, and other development-related information as requested by development staff.
  • Research companies and healthcare systems within the region to identify connections between their mission, giving and community impact priorities, internal and external influencers, and the American Heart Association’s mission and impact. 
  • Advise development staff regarding new prospect possibilities; consults on the feasibility of research requests and special projects.
  • Build profile reports tailored to specific goals and/or objectives; maintain, track and store profile data.
  • Maintain and update policies and procedures for the prospect research programs; propose changes and modifications.
  • Retrieve and analyze prospect data to advise cultivation strategies as well as individual and team-level prospect pool management.
  • Coordinate and maintain prospect records and files, including continuous maintenance of accurate databases and central files.
  • Review local and national news, business publications, economic trends and business development keeping abreast of prospect information; provides relevant information to development staff.
  • Use and maintain current CRM including relationship management data entry, queries, and reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 5 years successful experience in non-profit fundraising, volunteer management or similar experience.
  • 3 years of managerial experience ideally with a sales team or fundraising team in a similar organization.
  • Proven strength building and using relationships at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Proven record of initiative and working in a nebulous environment (gray space).
  • Solid understanding of how to engage and work with high-level volunteers and donors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and lead project teams.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people around the organization, including senior executives.
  • Ability to present ideas and concepts live or via multimedia in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% local and overnight stay.

 

Compensation & Benefits

The expected pay range will be $62,500 to $83,400. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
