EDUCATION PROGRAM SPECIALIST / NURSE PLANNER
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Nurse Content & Continuing Education, construct, implement, evaluate and manage educational products and consultative services content that supports ANA Enterprise and subsidiary product management plans. Educational content priorities are driven by the ANA Enterprise strategic plans and content map supporting credentialing and program related activities. Manage all administrative, operational and logistical processes and outcomes related to the development of educational products and services. Serve as the primary point to direct the daily activities of the Education Program Coordinator who serves as the primary contact for collaborating organizations, content experts, and external vendors regarding educational and consultative programs. Collaborate with staff across the ANA Enterprise to develop high-quality educational programs, products and consultative services.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Collaborate with the Director Product Development, Lead Nurse Planner, Education Planning Coordinators, Program and Product Management teams, and Marketing, to proactively identify innovative product opportunities and technologies to support product line plans. Initiate and maintain external collaborative relationships, partnerships, and sponsorships, to increase product and service market share, increase revenue and decrease expenses.
- Develop educational content and products in the form of workshops, symposiums, conferences, on-line e-learning, webinars, national study groups, manuals/ monographs, blended learning, consultative services, and other emerging adult learning methods. Provide expert project management and evaluation for the delivery of educational and consultative products and services.
- Create and manage databases, develop and analyze reports, and make recommendations in support of educational content
- Conduct on-going educational needs assessment of current and potential customers to ensure products and services meet present and future learning and professional practice needs
- Manage the development, planning and implementation of content programming (acquisition and delivery) supporting conferences and all educational events as scheduled
- Create ISO approved content development standards, systems and best practices for content creation, distribution, maintenance, content retrieval and content repurposing
- Conduct customer surveys and other environmental scan activities for the purpose of customer satisfaction, process improvements and identification of new business opportunities
- Develop metrics to pinpoint process efficiency opportunities and support of ANA Enterprise goals
- Lead cross-functional teams to effectively apply adult learning theory, instructional design and technology delivery to develop synchronous, asynchronous and live educational offerings
- Create, monitor and interpret statistical and financial information related to educational programs, and products and consulting services. Construct required budget development information to support new product and service development and execution, and monitor revenue and expenses for assigned products and services.
- Provide operational support to include monitoring of scheduling subject matter experts for educational events across the nation and internationally
- Collaborate with product management and the marketing team to construct targeted marketing information used to initiate national and international marketing campaigns for current and future products and services
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ANA
- BSN required. Master’s degree in nursing, education, educational technology, informatics, business or a related degree or equivalent experience required
- Experience in the application of adult learning and learning theory required. Related credentials in instructional design, e-learning/distance learning, project management, or product development preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in related duties with educational content in health care, nursing continuing education programs, or consulting services
- A minimum of 1 year of experience managing and leading a cross-functional team to meet aggressive goals with high judgment applied on how products are prioritized and developed
- Knowledge of distribution modes supporting content delivery, web accessible and mobile applications, LMS and print-on-demand platforms with a global view of evolving nurse needs.
- E-learning/distance learning preferred, and demonstrated success in new program development, implementation and evaluation
- Knowledge of current and emerging curriculum and instructional design methodologies, techniques, and adult learning principles and theories
- Familiarity with technological software and hardware platforms that support management and educational delivery
- Ability to work independently and effectively provide content development team support and content project management
- Competence in constructing and writing content information material
- Proven ability to think critically and collaboratively build solutions in a politically sensitive and highly visible work environment
- Must be a team player, able to take initiative, and have experience working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Project management certification and performance improvement experience in the health care sector a plus
Work Schedule:
Hybrid: Employees are considered Hybrid if they are regularly scheduled to work in at least 20% of their work week or work month in an ANA Enterprise Office.
Hybrid employees are expected to travel to the office when requested and/or when necessary to achieve results or meet business needs.

- The ANA Enterprise will hire primarily from the District of Columbia (DC), Maryland (MD), and Virginia (VA).
