Assistant Controller (Midland, TX)

We are seeking an Assistant Controller to become an important part of a rapidly growing team. The Assistant Controller will be expected to perform a variety of general accounting functions along with leading the company in accounts payable and fixed asset reporting. This position reports to the Controller and is responsible for applying general principles of accounting, reviewing and analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports. Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and review financial transactions and activities for all departments and business units.
• Prepare monthly and annual reconciliations, financial reports and statements to ensure compliance with various statutory requirements, generally accepted accounting principles, and established policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, fixed assets, depreciation schedules and other financial data.
• Provide technical accounting support to various departments.
• Participate in preparation of various financial models and forecasts.
• Assist in the preparation of capital budgets and monitor capital expenditures.
• Participate in special projects, team training and development.
• Assist Controller in areas of management accounting and finance.
• Assist with the development, review and updating of accounting policies, procedures, checklists and related documentation concerning assigned functions and responsibilities.
• Review proper accounting treatment for all transactions.
• Assist with federal, state and local tax documentation preparation.
• Identify solutions to any discrepancies in financial records.
• Prepare journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Actively participate in annual audit preparation and engagement.
• Develop financials reports for management.
• Prepare ad hoc reports on as as-needed basis.
• Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve any inaccuracies or imbalances.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Qualifications

• College education in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
• Proficient working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop.
• Well organized, proactive, must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
• Ability to adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial and employee matters.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.
• Proficient knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.).

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year annual bonus
