SUMMER WIND, the Small Tall Ship, is a small Staysail Junk-rigged schooner doing public sailing tours and private charters in Baltimore and the Chesapeake Bay. Seeking a Deckhand for the 2022 summer season in Baltimore now through October. Prior experience aboard a sailboat is preferred but not required.
The Deckhand is responsible for ship maintenance, cleaning and preparing the ship for passengers, line handling for docking, setting, dousing and trimming sails and interaction with passengers during tours and charters. A strong passion for customer service is a must.
This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to rack up some real sea time and experience for their own future license. This position pays $400 per week plus tips, typically another $300-$400. This is a live-aboard position with a private cabin on the boat and access to all services in the marina, including the health club, pool, sauna and hot tub in a nearby hotel.
Employees must be enrolled in our drug testing program mandated by the Coast Guard and must also show proof of vaccination.
