We’re looking for a strategic and imaginative Junior Art Director to connect middle and high schoolers to ASA’s growing digital ecosystem. If you take pride in your ability to construct and tell creative stories across the digital landscape, embrace the unexpected as the next great idea – and if you’re passionate about building relationships with students through clever and engaging campaigns – we want to chat.

You’ll be working alongside our joint marketing and creative team to help inform, conceptualize, and create student-facing campaigns for multiple social media platforms. To be an ideal candidate, you’ll have the ability to research and extract key audience insights from different sources, instinctive storytelling skills and an ability to speak to the needs of middle and high school students. You’ll know exactly how to keep your finger on the pulse of popular culture, and you can regularly slay content creation that reflects your deep understanding of relevant trends across all the socials: Snapchat, TikTok, Insta, YouTube and others.

You’ll be joining a team full of creative, passionate individuals who produce great work while having fun.

Essential Functions:

  • Brainstorm new, creative approaches to reach our target audience
  • Participate in campaign concept development from brief through presentation
  • Work with copywriter(s) to produce a wide range of creative assets that communicate our brand personality and messages, and motivate students to engage with our digital ecosystem
  • Able to maintain consistency in content and ensure alignment with the brand
  • The ability to adapt concepts created by other creatives to other media
  • Stay up to date with
    • trends for Gen Z (and Gen Alpha)
    • trends across all the social media platforms (IG, Snap, TT, etc)
    • emerging trends, technologies, and influencers’
    • industry changes, new technologies, and related developments (incorporating as appropriate)
  • A genuine desire to help middle and high school students make informed and confident decisions about what to do with their lives after high school

Experience:

  • A portfolio showing strong skills in both design and conceptual thinking across various media, primarily in digital/social
  • A wide breadth of knowledge, and consistently consume, media on social platforms
  • Experience concepting campaigns and pitching to senior marketing team
  • 1-2 years experience in creative design and branding

Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree, Design Certificate or equivalent experience

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in:
    • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
    • Motion graphics (Premier and AfterEffects)
    • Presentation software (PowerPoint, KeyNote, Google Slides)
  • Comfortable with:
    • being on camera in social posts
    • HTML5
  • Tech-savvy with an interest in Gen Z and Gen Alpha marketing
  • A strategic thinker who can connect social trends to product benefits in authentic/relatable ways
  • Detail-oriented (proofreading before publishing, making sure to look at the background and edges of the image so there isn’t anything weird, etc.)
  • An effective communicator and welcoming of feedback
  • A self-starter who is extremely organized, highly driven and able to prioritize tasks
  • Owns a curiosity-driven brain
  • A collaborator who can work across departments with all levels of employees
  • A keen sense of humor
