Primary Role
Responsible for performing water and wastewater related field service duties, reading maps, drawings, meters and performing utility locates, utilizing company software, and maintaining customer service while preforming other duties as assigned by supervisor. Operate various tools and equipment. Must be able to work in a variety of inclement weather conditions and be on call per the on-call schedule. Provide basic water and wastewater treatment plant operational coverage during employee absence. Key Accountabilities

Primary Role

Provide basic water and wastewater treatment plant operational coverage during employee absence. Key Accountabilities
- Executes service order requests from customers (turn on and turn off service as needed).
- Investigates customer complaints and sewer backups to determine and/or take corrective actions.
- Reads maps and other drawings.
- Collect samples and perform water and wastewater compliance testing duties.
- Operates company vehicles and equipment, to perform field service duties.
- Operates various hand and power tools.
- Reads meters as required by daily schedules and investigates customer concerns.
- Performs work in meter boxes, and confined spaces.
- Operates and repairs distribution system, including operating valves.
- Manual digging, coordinates private contractors to investigate and repair water and wastewater systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned to be determined by Operations Supervisor. Work Schedule
- Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm with on-call responsibility on a rotational basis every 2 weeks. Knowledge/Skills
- Mechanical, Computer, Laboratory, General Construction, Customer Communication, Self-Motivated.
- Organized, Attention to detail.
- Understanding of water system maintenance to include the execution of customer service orders.
- Meter reading, and backup and investigation of maintenance/system improvements.Experience/Education
- High School Diploma or recognized Education Equivalency Certificate.
- One to three (1 to 3) years preferred.
- Must be familiar with customer service, meter reading, and distribution system maintenance duties.Certifications & Licenses
- Illinois Class 4 Wastewater Operators License or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire date.
- Illinois Class C Water Operators License or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire date.
- Valid Driver’s License with clean MVRTravel Requirements
- Travel required within the distribution system and division.
- Limited travel related to training.Work Environment
