Practice Hospitality is seeking a friendly and hospitable food runner to join the team at Americana Motor Hotel, opening in Flagstaff later this spring.
About The Hotel
Built in 1962 and reopening in late spring, this is yesterday’s hotel of tomorrow, reimagined for today. Parked on historic Route 66 just East of downtown Flagstaff, the Americana Motor Hotel has been fully renovated and in reinventing the roadside retreat as a launchpad for adventure in Northern Arizona. Inspired by the region’s natural wonders and far out history, it will give guests plenty see and do before they head out there. Featuring plush beds, brand new walk in showers, retro-futuristic design, 4K television and premium Wi-Fi, the 88 guestrooms rooms are a little slice of heaven here on earth. And, the amenities are out of this world with a year-round heated pool, cozy fire pits, yard games and a tempting menu of tasty treats and cold canned beverages.
Job Role
Food Runner responsibilities include setting tables, serving food orders and removing used dishes and utensils. To be considered for this role, you should be available to work various shifts, including weekends.
Responsibilities
- Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately
- Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff
- Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (e.g. food allergies)
- Assist the wait staff with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils and napkins
- Serve welcome drinks and hors d’oeuvres, upon guests’ arrival
- Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature) Check in with customers and take additional orders or refill water, as needed
- Remove dirty dishes and utensils
- Answer guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items
- Inform restaurant staff about customers’ feedback or requests (e.g. when they ask for the check)
Make sure families with young children get kids menus and special silverware sets
Requirements
Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, serviceware and menu items.
Ability to read, speak and write the English language in order to communicate with guests.
Ability to transport up to 30 lbs on a continuous basis
- Experience as a food expeditor similar entry-level role in a restaurant
- Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment
