Position Summary: 

The Chief People Officer is a strong team leader with passion, drive, and a commitment to integrating impactful short and long-term HR strategies that position Americare as an industry benchmark in areas of employment branding, talent assessment, recruitment, learning, and development, retention, coaching, performance management, career pathing, compensation & benefits, and employee relations. This highly visible and engaged leader is a trusted advisor and strategic business partner who positively influences and instills a culture of functional and team excellence .  The CPO is an integral member of the senior leadership team charged with creating and championing Americare’s strategic human resource plan, optimizing organizational support structure, and strengthening the Company’s talent base and culture.

  • Creating and implementing a comprehensive and lean human resource strategy and infrastructure that best positions Americare in attracting, retaining, developing, and empowering quality talent at all levels to achieve outstanding performance and prepare the Company, most competitively, for continued growth. 
  • Leading and inspiring a high-performance HR team that champions the creation of a world-class people service culture that enhances organizational effectiveness and maximizes individual and team performance.
  • Creating and leading a comprehensive talent management process that includes how to measure, identify, develop, retain and incentivize top talent across all ranks. 
  • Working closely with the operations team as a respected business partner and problem solver to prioritize departmental focus and resources to best support the needs of operations.  
  • Identifying leadership gaps and utilizing learning programs and development plans to build both organizational and individual leadership capabilities at all levels across the organization. 
  • Creating a compelling employment branding strategy targeting key positions including nurses, full-time salary, full-time hourly, part-time hourly, specialized and skilled positions.
  • Establishing user-friendly, easy-to-read, and accurate staffing and turnover reports; developing strategies and rolling out plans to lower turnover.
  • Creating and implementing cost-effective, and impactful sourcing, recruiting, and onboarding tools, processes, and systems.
  • Ensuring organization bench depth and talent readiness across all levels of the Company through implementing effective recruitment, talent acquisition, and calibration, succession planning, team development, and the implementation of a pay-for-performance compensation strategy that attracts, retains, and rewards achieving superior performance.
  • Conducting needs assessments for key employee groups to address opportunities in compensation, benefits, career advancement training, and enhancing the employee experience.
  • Leveraging integrated training and development programs across all levels of the Company that ensures operational consistency and effectiveness. 
  • Becoming a trusted advisor, business partner, and confidante to the CEO, COO, and other members of the senior leadership team.
  • As a Core Executive Team Member, collaborate readily and respectfully and have the courage and conviction to challenge as appropriate.
  • Supervision of HR Team including Director of Risk Management /Workplace Safety and Health; HR Consultants, Benefit Coordinator and Recruiters. 
  • Adheres to the Americare Mission/Vision, Home Town Hospitality and F.A.M.I.L.Y. Values, Employee Culture Statement and Company Policy and Procedures.

Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills

Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution (required).

Experience/Skills:

  • 15 years of progressively more responsible business and human resources leadership experience including a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated success as a senior-level HR business partner.
  • Blended experience working within larger companies with scalable HR systems and processes combined with the comfort and expertise as a working executive in smaller PE and /or entrepreneur-backed businesses with limited internal staff and resources. 
  • Demonstrated competency and expertise in all functional areas of Human Resources, including strategic and organizational planning, recruitment, talent assessment, organizational development, employee relations, succession planning, compensation and benefits strategy, learning and development, governmental and regulatory compliance, and organizational communications.
  • Prior success in providing HR talent and cultural support to customer-facing service industry companies delivering best-in-class customer experiences through multiple touch points using full-time and part-time team members through periods of growth and expansion.
  • Superior level of self-initiative, confidence, and personal accountability coupled with a balanced ego and outstanding team leadership skills. 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to positively influence and effect change at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational change initiatives by winning the respect of peers and leveraging positive influence skills.
  • Strong business acumen with superior intellect and capacity for solving complex business challenges.
  • A keen eye for talent; quickly and accurately assessing people’s strengths, weaknesses, and future potential.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly build trust and positively influence organizational change within an Owner, Entrepreneurial, or Founder led organization.
