TITLE: Healthcare Quality Improvement & Data Analyst

REPORTS TO: Director, Clinical Operations

LOCATION: USA (Remote)

This position is remote.

About AmeriCares Free Clinics:

The mission of the Americares Free Clinics is to provide quality health care to low-income, uninsured patients in a setting where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect. Americares opened its first clinic in 1994 to expand access to care for the working poor. Over the years our program has grown to become the largest free clinic network in the state with four locations serving 3,000 patients annually. Today, our clinics in Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford are the primary source of free medical care for the uninsured in Fairfield County.

SUMMARY:

In this role, you will participate in the analyses of healthcare data and on multiple projects related to quality, safety, and clinical performance. You will also facilitate and support cross-functional teams to improve operational processes critical to safe, high quality, efficient, patient-centered care by leveraging Change Management methodologies. You will promote using data in appropriate ways to achieve improvements in health care, set improvement goals, measure, and track the success of the project or initiative.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards.
Manages and coaches’ teams to improve health outcomes using quality improvement approaches including but not limited to defining aims for improvement, setting up indicators and tracking them on time series or control charts, testing and implementing changes and using Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) Cycles.
Designs and develops reports and analyzes and interprets data. Performs complex and detailed clinical and operational data analysis with reliability as well as providing audit trails in all work. Completes assignments in an efficient, quality-focused manner. Reports any quality issues through established clinical data and analytic processes for documentation and follow-up.
Assumes responsibility for development of key deliverables such as quarterly and monthly reports and standardized or ad hoc/ custom requests.
Create professional reports and presentations that provide quality information throughout the AFCs
Interpret, communicate, and present results in a consistent and easy to understand format that facilitates decision-making.

Metrics / Quality
Develop valid and reliable performance measures to support the quality improvement strategic objectives of the organization.
Partner in performance improvement initiatives to combine a variety of data sources into useful datasets and dashboards for monitoring project goals and tracking improvement progress.
Act as internal consultant for selecting, managing, evaluating, sustaining, and implementing the solutions and innovations resulting from improvement projects
Collaborate with information services, vendors, department managers, frontline staff, and outside organizations on obtaining accurate, reliable, and timely data supporting performance improvement activities

Process
Identifies opportunities to automate processes for optimization and increased efficiency.
Develop and maintain documentation to facilitate knowledge management and ensure continuity of data products deployed by the department throughout the organization
Promote the integration of best practices into existing systems
Assists with quality assurance adherence to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of project-related information data resources and reporting initiatives.
Assists in the development of data collection tools
Ensures that inquiries that require a general understanding of the work area policies and procedures are resolved, and that others are brought to the attention of the appropriate person.

Data Validity, Integrity, and Security
Conduct periodic testing of data validity, identifying and resolving any errors or discrepancies.
Work with Director, Clinical Operations to resolve any data discrepancy related to user input, user error, or poor source system design (Athena).
Work closely with Information Technology teams during upgrades to test and validate system readiness (Athena).
Communicate effectively with clinicians and leadership to learn from their expertise and convey new information to them.
Become proficient in our EMR to demonstrate an understanding of the clinician workflows and the data availability/limitations.
Interface with IT team/IT Consultant to ensure security of EHR system
Oversee training of new staff in proper usage of Athena
Other duties as assigned.
Acknowledge that AFC maintains a policy and procedure manual at all locations and agree to follow the policies and procedures set forth within the manual.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
Knowledge of quality, safety, and clinical performance data and statistical methods; using moderate to complex database queries preferred.
3 years’ experience in the healthcare field/Informatics
Certification/experience in quality improvement/ Lean/ Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Proficiency in Electronic Health Records; Athena a plus
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $66,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
