What You'll Do
Primary Responsibility: An Enterprise Architect (EA) will design, develop, manage and determine how to deliver innovative technology solutions and roadmaps from business needs definition and discovery through delivery, this also includes how enterprise’s data will be stored and utilized. The Enterprise Architect (EA) role requires complex thinking and strategizing to ascertain which legacy systems can be updated, what software or hardware can be replaced and which services or products will support business operations across each department globally. The EA is and advocate for business value and needs to lead with business value and then design solutions and roadmaps to deliver business value. The EA leads design efforts, defines end to end architectures, oversees and performs research studies and presentations that include recommendations, and instructions for proposed implementation; formulates logical description of problems and recommends optimum solutions. In this role, the EA will require to manage other architects and provide guidance and training that is in line with the policies and systems that she/he has been developing or managingEssential Functions:• Collaborate with stakeholders within the organization, including executives and department leads to understand business objectives and requirements• Evangelize the business value of technology and bring use cases to both IT and the business to drive value• Create the enterprise architecture roadmap for the IT and software organizations, based on the organizations strategy, to rectify gaps and pain points within the current state• Develop architecture roadmaps and strategies for enterprise systems• Define and design microservices, APIs, and integration technology patterns• Drive the adoption of domain-driven design principles and lead capability mapping workshops• Develop and implement cloud-native technology solutions using containerization and orchestration technologies• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools that can improve system performance and efficiency• Make “build, buy, partner” technology decisions based on clearly established criteria• Collaborate with development teams to ensure that solutions are scalable, resilient, and secure• Define and implement architecture standards and best practices across the organization• Collaborate with other architects and technical leads to ensure alignment of architecture across all systems and components• Support business initiatives to ensure the enterprise follows best practices for data standards and data management. Examine data sets, identify patterns and use that information to help Americold to gain a competitive advantage• Envision data pipelines and how data will flow through the enterprise applications• Design, document, and implement database architectures and applications• Build and support the capability to develop and optimize definition and specifications of data extraction, transformation and load for analytics and extending business system solutions• Manage the partnership with Data Integration Hubs around data modeling, data mappings, data validation, hierarchy management and overall security. Provide continuous enhancement and review of MDM matching rules, data quality and validation processes.• Determine upgrades and improvements to legacy system applications• Creating inventory of enterprise’s master data and storing the data in an easily accessible manner while ensuring protection from unauthorized persons.• Integrate new systems and functions like security, performance, scalability, reliability and data recovery• Collaborating with other sub-units of the enterprise architecture to develop data solutions and models for the organization’s needs, as well as partner with the enterprise’s management needs to create data models in line with the organization’s needs• Prepare time estimates for a project and detailed time estimate for each program within the project. • Work closely with the internal/external customer responsible to perform any tasks required as related to critical software and/or process alterations • Maintain detailed knowledge of where and how assigned disciplines are utilized across the organization. Close working relationship with the sites to create and maintain a cohesive and connected business system to support the needs of the business.• Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team (as applicable) promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
What Experience You Need
Qualifications & Experience:• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.• Experience in data management systems and database platforms required• Experience with implementing, configuring and maintaining enterprise software applications such as Finance, Sales, WMS, Distribution, Transportation, and Labor Management• Experience in enterprise reporting and dashboard solutions, Power BI, etc.• Performs work with little to no supervision – provides guidance to lower-level & less experienced architects and developers. Acts as project leader on large, complex projects. Maintains a senior-level workload. Fully capable of working at the highest technical level. Has 7 years of relevant experience with implementing enterprise solutions• Database and cloud computing design, architectures and data lakes• Demonstrated planning, task organizing and execution skills• Programming languages, including Java, Python and C/C , as well as unified modeling language• Strong communications skills (written/verbal), with emphasis on demonstrated ability to translate complex concepts between business and technical groups. • Experience and/or knowledge of FMEA, ITIL, COBIT, ISO, and Project Management Methodologies• Strong customer service orientation• Skill in influencing, negotiating, mediation and problem resolution• Ability to work in team-oriented environmentKnowledge & Employment Standards:• Needs to be a first-class problem solver – Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail. Able to boil complex problems down to their constituent elements, and then formulate and evaluate a range of alternative solutions.
