Responsibilities

Primary Responsibility: As Network Operations intern, you will assist the Americold Network Operations team and Network Manager to develop reports to analyze bandwidth utilization, review critical switches logs, help with SD-WAN deployment, plan for circuit upgrades and evaluate the current alerting strategy configured in Americold monitoring system. Collaborate with the Network Operation and Hosting teams to review network documentation including IP tracking of the physical network. Essential Functions: • Create technical reports based on utilization trends, that project when a circuit upgrade may be required. Identify opportunities for improvement within the current SolarWinds environment • Actively participate in project meetings and work with Infrastructure managers in requirements gathering sessions. • Works with Network manager to build technical specifications and present business requirements to IT partners to ensure technical specifications accurately reflect business needs. • Work with the network Engineers to create and review bandwidth reports. Revise and update where needed and create new documents where there are gaps. Centralize all documentation into one organized location for the team the access • Learn the current network alerting and monitoring setup. • Evaluate and recommend improvements on the current network and alerting system to make them more intuitive and actionable. • Document all work relative to alerting strategy.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience: • Pursuing Bachelors or Master of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent • Exposure to Microsoft Office (Visio) and Microsoft Office • Exposure in the following areas: Networking concepts, desire to learn about, routing and switching (Cisco), Network design concepts, IPV4 subnetting Knowledge & Employment Standards: • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Effective presentation, documentation and report writing skills. • Demonstrated planning, task organizing and execution skills. • Ability to work in team-oriented environment. • Working knowledge of applicable hardware platforms. • Ability to complete work deadlines Physical Requirements & Abilities: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
