2022 - 2023 Outreach & Program Enhancement VISTA
This Outreach & Program Enhancement VISTA will be hosted by DuPage Habitat for Humanity located in Wheaton, IL. DuPage Habitat for Humanity is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program on Housing Action’s website While the vast majority of Americans feel stable and secure in their current situation, housing insecurity touches nearly half of adults at some point in their lives. The Outreach & Program Enhancement VISTA position will address these needs through outreach to community organizations and individuals educating them about our Homeownership and Home Repair Programs. This includes supporting and leading information sessions, as well as connecting community members to other resources they may need to support their journey to home ownership. Desired outcomes: • Support communication strategies to engage individuals to share about DuPage Habitat's mission. • Developed systems that tracks individual's requests, referral information, and how to contact them in the future. • Expanded relationships with 5 partners in the community each quarter in order to deepen their understanding of DuPage Habitat Programs and allow for further interaction between organizations. • Support the implementation of systems and/or programs that are sustainable and will continue at the host site after the completion of the VISTA term by developing manuals and training staff/volunteers on the new The ideal candidate for this position is organized, patient, and task driven. This position requires confidentiality, and compassion for what clients are going through. In addition, this AmeriCorps should be able to compile and analyze data to influence program outreach and marketing efforts.
Member Duties : • Engage with individuals to share about DuPage Habitat's mission • Attend outreach events throughout the county to share about DuPage Habitat's programs & services to those who may be in need. • Identify new partnerships through attending networking events, such as business fairs & Chamber of Commerce luncheons. • Answer & return phone calls to affiliates with more information about how to qualify for our programs and services. • Intake applications for the Homeownership & Home Repair Programs & follow up with potential client until a full file is created. • Assist with items relating to the Family Services Committee Functions, such as information sessions & Zoom calls. • Research & develop a database of organizations clients can be referred to if they do not qualify for DuPage Habitat programs. • Work with other affiliate staff to create specific mutually beneficial partnership agreements between organizations to encourage a smoother client transition between services.
