What are the responsibilities and job description for the HALOS - VISTA position at AmeriCorps?
HALOS serves relatives and kinship caregivers (such as aunts, uncles, grandparents, and family friends) that are raising children in the Charleston area. We have a variety of programs to support caregivers, including group support, coaching, summer camp scholarships, and goods such as school supplies. Our VISTA member help us evaluate internal and external needs as well as expand our service capacity.

Member Duties : Our VISTA will identify and correspond with untouched kinship caregivers and family populations in the Tri-County area. Our VISTA will expand and update existing databases for the most accurate local resources to support main HALOS programming. Our VISTA will Develop a framework for potential youth support services in addition evaluating current support groups service (conducting surveys based on DSS need). Our VISTA will facilitate mentor/mentee relationship building events while reviewing the efficacy of the newly formed Mentor Program.
Program Benefits : Training , Health Coverage* , Living Allowance , Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend .
Permits attendance at school during off hours , Car recommended , Permits working at another job during off hours .
