Claims Medical Services Technician Trainee

Overview

AMERISAFE is seeking a detail-oriented, productivity driven professional to add to our “Excellence Team” based in DeRidder, LA. A  Medical Services Trainee will receive training  and  development   required  to  consistently perform  quality  control when solving problems  associated  with  medical billing  issues, communicate timely and professionally with all vendors to assure medical bills  andlor issues are processed  efficiently, become familiar with the IRS 1099 reporting  guidelines to  assist in accurate 1099 reporting.  Punctuality, attendance and tear participation are critical.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or equivalent formal education, or one or more years with medical bill review and/or medical bill coding preferred
• Must be detail oriented
• Must be flexible, highly self-motivated, and dedicated to quality task completion
• Cooperation and Teamwork is a must
• Ability to compose and submit short written responses via Email using the prescribed formats and basic rules of grammar
• Professional comportment, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and pleasant demeanor are a must
• Routine use of Microsoft Windows application programs and Email programs. Basic use of Microsoft Office applications, (WORD/EXCEL) are desirable

Responsibilities

• Properly receive and assist medical bill status calls
• Recognize and be able to communicate effectively with AMERISAFE’s contracted vendors to assist in locating bill payments or missing information
• Proficiently search and utilize the MIP system to locate medical bills and communicate the status of the bills and/or payment information to our customers 
• Create, edit or deactivate vendors in accordance of the IRS and AMERISAFE policies
• Evaluate and identify potential incorrect payments to medical providers; law firms; and injured workers  
• To provide accurate rates for straight pay reimbursements  
• Become familiar with all contracted vendors and their respected programs
• Introduction to state mandated allowances for reimbursement of services including but not limited to mileage; prescription and production of medical record fees
• Apply pay codes to services rendered and follow all company policies on processing payments
• Accurately match provider payment with corresponding Explanation of Benefits by assuring claim number, provider name, and reimbursement amounts are reflected correctly
• Cross train in other areas as needed or assist training of co-workers
