Function
Provide and maintain a stable and reliable distributed computing environment by identifying system and network requirements, installing systems/upgrades, and monitoring system and network performance.
Duties
Sets up user accounts, permissions, and passwords. Assists in the maintenance of privileged accounts, according to Policy.
Maintains the Company’s Active Directory to optimize the operation and security of the computing environment.
Provides training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence.
Upgrades, installs, and troubleshoots network infrastructure, networking hardware devices, systems, and software.
Assists in managing email, email security, servers, virus protection, patch management, and vulnerability management.
Assists in managing the Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery capability and plans related to servers and mission critical, client server-based applications.
Maintains network and system performance through monitoring and analysis, identifies performance problems, escalating identified problems to a higher-level LAN Administrator.
Responds, troubleshoots, and resolves service requests escalated from the IT Support team. Works closely with the IT Support team to detect systemic problems with network processes and products.
Implements, supports, and maintains inventory of network assets used within the infrastructure.
Works with system analysts to implement new solutions assuring receipt of proper documentation for maintenance and new installations.
Contributes to identifying, assessing, and minimizing project risks to ensure successful completion of projects.
Assists in the oversight of the operation of the enterprise storage back-up system.
Assists in the maintenance of the core application following the procedures provided by the core service provider.
Maintains infrastructure and network-related documentation, such as network diagrams, network addressing schemes, and configurations.
Provides input through testing and recommending security configurations to maintain a secure yet flexible computing environment.
Acts as part of the “after hours” on call support team, as scheduled, including response to security events reported by various security monitoring systems.
Keeps current with technology and systems through continued education.
Trains the IT team members designated as a backup to this position.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education, Training And Experience
Preferred Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field with at least one (1) year experience supporting a PC/LAN environment. Required Associate’s degree in an IT-related field and at least three (3) years experience supporting a PC/LAN environment. Preferred technical network-related certification, such as CompTIA Network and/or Security , or Cisco CCT.
Required: Knowledge of network topologies, operations, and communication principles. Professional demeanor with clear and direct communications skills. Self-motivated and results-oriented. Ability to thrive under pressure and deliver effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and consistently. Proven track record of delivering quality work.
