AMETEK Solidstate Controls (SCI) is in the business of providing continuity of electrical power to keep businesses in business. SCI currently has systems installed throughout the world, including more than 100 countries and in Nuclear Power Plants worldwide. Our Products have extensive applications in the following market segments: petroleum, LNG, power – fossil & nuclear, specialty chemicals, mining/metals, wastewater, pulp & paper, food & beverage and others requiring continuous power for mission critical applications.
Job Summary:
The Application engineer is a key individual in the sales function that has multiple roles to fill in. The candidate must be able to work in a cross-functional team environment and shall be assigned a specific territory / region. The candidate shall work closely with the regional sales manager and other members of that team. The selected candidate will provide technical power continuity solutions in formal proposals and assist the factory with the definition of products and systems sold after the proposal becomes an order.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support customers, sales managers, and sales representatives in all pre-sale activities.
- Assess potential application of AMETEK products and offer solutions that meet customer needs.
- Provide expert support and knowledge of products with their use in the industry to customers and the sales channel.
- Create bid costing spreadsheets based on customer requirements and create selling prices in accordance with business goals.
- Generate proposals for products and systems to include commercial terms, technical compliance and project specific details.
- Review pricing, technical specifications and commercial terms on all new orders while resolving issues with customers prior to order acceptance.
- Liaison between customer and manufacturing for orders prior to shipment.
- Consult with design and/or manufacturing team to resolve technical problems.
- Support product managers on select products/services in the area of market research, to include analysis of various vertical markets, competitive analysis, market trends, market growth, regulatory activity and customer requirements.
- Participate in creation of product road maps and strategic sales initiatives.
- Contribute and support creation of marketing tools and literature to include manuals, sales literature, application white papers and promotional literature.
- Create specifications, participate in design review committees and alpha test of products to support new products and product enhancement development.
- Remain current and up to date on new technology by attending trade shows and external training.
- Prepare complete Technical & Commercial Proposals for Strategic Accounts. The AE must be involved both on the technical and commercial front in all RFQs assigned to.
- Keep alert for RFQ’s in all territories that are from strategic clients, and then assist the RSM in preparing formal proposals and budgetary quotes consistent with our agreements.
- Provide support to Clients, Regional Sales Managers (RSM) and our Sales Partners in clarifying factory-generated proposals and in re-quoting as required.
- Assist & support Sales / Channel Partners, Representatives & Regional Managers in cost-effective product selection and in the design of complete power protection systems.
- Work with RSM and/or Director of Sales to assist them in improving the completeness and accuracy of their Booking forecasts.
- Work with RSM and / or Director of Sales in creating strategies to keep key accounts.
- Assessing potential application of company products and offer solutions that meet customer needs.
- Provides customer and field support through technical knowledge of products and their use in the industry.
- Calculates cost based on the requirements of the customer and generates sell price in accordance with the business goals.
- Generates proposals for products and systems to include commercial terms, technical compliance, and project specific details while emphasizing the advantages of our products and how they benefit the customer.
- Consult with design and or manufacturing engineering on highly technical problems.
- Review pricing, technical specifications, and commercial terms on new orders.
- Resolves issues with customers prior to order acceptance.
- Acts as a liaison between the customer and manufacturing before order ship.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably electrical.
- 1-5 years’ experience working with similar products or in related markets, in particular, AC-DC and DC-AC Power conversion.
Desired Qualifications:
The Applications Engineer should possess business skills coupled with an in-depth knowledge of industrial Batteries, AC-DC rectifiers, DC-AC Inverters and AC-AC voltage regulators. The Applications Engineer must be able to work efficiently in order to meet bid deadlines. The ability to meet strict deadlines is required. Bi-lingual is a plus.
