What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinist position at Ametek?
CNC MACHINIST "B"
Perform basic setups and operate assigned CNC machines to produce parts to close tolerances. Have an understanding of basic CNC programming and the ability to make minor edits. Maintain required quality and productivity levels with minimal supervision. Skilled in the required techniques and possesses demonstrated competence, knowledge, and craftsmanship.
ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS
- Perform all of the requirements of CNC operator.
- Work from blueprints, work orders and instructions from supervisor and/or group leader.
- Ensure material, tools, and measuring equipment are available.
- Set-up the machine. Sharpen or replace worn tools as required. Select correct speeds and feeds. Check to ensure machine is functioning properly and safely. If necessary, request assistance from Lead Person.
- Inspect parts using proper measuring equipment. If parts are out of tolerance, troubleshoot problems, take corrective action. Submit part for first piece inspection and proceed after approval.
- Inspect parts periodically to ensure compliance with print specifications.
- Conduct preventative maintenance duties on equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation.
SECONDARY ELEMENTS
- Prepare and maintain records and reports as required. Maintain established quality standards. Ensure work area and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly condition, that prescribed safety measures are followed, and established company policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or as required.
