Job Summary
The position of Senior Accountant will be responsible for general accounting, financial closing and reporting, cost accounting, account reconciliations, commission reporting and payments, and other various accounting functions. The position will work with the organization at all levels to gather information, produce various reports and ensure compliance with all corporate financial reporting requirements. This position is targeted for development within our organization and the ideal candidate will keep climbing the financial ladder with the finance department.
Qualifications
The Senior Accountant must possess outstanding analytical skills, strong communication skills (both oral and written), proven problem-solving capability, good understanding of GAAP with Sarbanes-Oxley and Strong computer skills including MS Office products. Oracle experience is a plus.
Specific Responsibilities
Perform monthly close procedures, including journal entry preparation, account analysis and review of actual v. budget/forecast
Assist in the preparation and/or review of consolidation package for reporting to corporate.
Complete monthly supplemental schedules
Assist with quarter and year-end financial closings
Reconcile inventory to general ledger on a monthly basis
Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
Review sales tax charged to customers and submit for payment
Review Sales Rep Commissions and submit for payment
Complete Daily Sales and Orders Report
Compare actual COGS to estimates and report variances to executive team.
Perform standard cost rolls for manufacturing plant
Classifies costs accurately
Generates PPV reports and analyze findings
Assist in coordination of semi-annual physical inventory counts
Assist with annual budgeting and monthly forecasting
Ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX
Assists with providing documentation for and liaising with internal/external auditors
Work closely and effectively with multiple levels of the organization
Actively participate in special projects, as assigned
Experience
Must possess a desire to advance your career into higher business management positions. Strong desire to take initiative on projects, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage several projects simultaneously. Efficient work flow processing with attention to detail.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years in accounting/financial roles, including exposure to manufacturing sector. MBA or CPA is a plus.
