The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Financial Analyst–Junior to support AMEWAS corporate office. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

 

About the location: 

California, Maryland #1 City Hiring the Most High-Tech Workers (California-Lexington Park, Maryland).

 

A typical day as a Financial Analyst–Junior may include:

  • Reviews, audits and approves employee/consultant expense reports according to Joint Travel Regulations (JTR)
  • Assists with occasional requests to book travel arrangements with local travel agency
  • Reviews and updates forms, policies and procedures for travel/non-travel expense report submissions
  • Assists with processing semi-monthly payroll
  • Generates/Reconciles associated payroll reports in a timely manner with precision
  • Remits federal, state and local payroll tax withholdings 
  • Processes filing of federal, state and local payroll tax returns
  • Remits employee deferrals and employer contributions to the 401(k) plan
  • Researches payroll issues as necessary

 

Must-haves:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • 1-3 years of demonstrated experience in processing multi-state, in-house payroll and/or processing expense reports
  • Prior experience with Joint Travel Regulations (JTR)
  • Experience with state and federal payroll laws
  • Basic to mid-level experience in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organization/time management skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Prior experience adhering to regulations and established policies
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

 

Desired Skills:

  • BS Degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Experience in Deltek Costpoint

Candidates must have a customer-focused attitude with a high level of professionalism and discretion, and have the ability to work effectively with both management, and as part of a team, to meet project targets.

 

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.  Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

 

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.  In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the work site.  In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
