The Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) function is part of American Express’ Global Risk, and Compliance (GRC) organization responsible for overseeing the Business Units and ensuring compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) regulations. GFCC also ensures compliance with Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Anti-Corruption regulations by providing compliance subject matter and risk management expertise, and implementing and supporting the BSA/AML, Sanctions and Anti-Corruption Programs.
How will you make an impact in this role?
This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Know Your Customer (KYC) processes for the purpose of enhancing KYC-related processes and controls, driving ad-hoc strategic initiatives, and supporting KYC requirements, including the Customer Identification Program (CIP) and risk-based Customer Due Diligence (CDD) activities across all U.S. issued products. The incumbent will interact closely with Compliance, Global Servicing Group, Lines of Business, and project teams to facilitate and monitor the adherence to KYC regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Support customer onboarding KYC requirements for all US products
- Drive projects and process enhancements related to KYC/CIP/CDD for AENB and TRS’ U.S. AML Compliance programs
- Ensure business line procedures are maintained current and accurate to support process and requirements
- Partner with operational groups, including New Accounts, to ensure KYC/CIP/CDD requirements are accurately implemented
- Provide subject matter expertise and analysis to business partners regarding third party identity verification sources and processes
- Stay abreast of regulatory and legislative changes pertaining to BSA/AML regulations that may impact AENB and TRS (U.S.) KYC requirements
- Identify and call out issues to leadership as appropriate
- Provide guidance and support business line efforts to remediate identified issues
- Support framework development and oversight of the business line KYC controls
Minimum Qualifications
- Professional certification (e.g., Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (CAMS)) a plus
- 2 years of work experience in a financial services institution, retail/commercial bank operations or payment institution in any of the following areas is highly preferred: BSA/AML, KYC, or financial crimes
- Knowledge of U.S. New Account onboarding systems and/or processes preferred
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Be an enthusiastic self-starter and deadline-driven teammate
- Demonstrate critical thinking
- Implement innovation and change initiatives
- Introduce, document, and champion new processes
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Keen attention to detail in analysis and documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
