Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be the head of digital and technology architecture for Amgen's global Operations function which includes Manufacturing, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Development, Global Supply Chain, and Quality. Key accountabilities include:
- Refine, own and implement the digital and technology architecture strategy and roadmap for Operations in alignment with the key strategic business drivers.
- Build relationships with senior business and IT leaders to clearly define program requirements and outcomes; architecture and technology roadmaps; project budgets and investment prioritization; and collaboratively align the operations’ digital and technology vision and strategy with Operations strategic drivers.
- Develop and implement an architecture vision and strategy - measurable through tangible Key Performance Indicators, goals, and metrics.
- Lead, produce, and apply architecture and engineering specifications and roadmaps that align with business strategies and enterprise standards. Ensure the specifications are used throughout the capability life cycle, from strategy through planning, implementation and support.
- Ensure the sustainability of our platforms through architecture roadmaps over time.
- Monitor external digital and technology changes and be a source of continuous innovation, facilitating speed to and in market and competitive advantage. Leverage digital and technology to drive innovation in the business.
- Define and implement forward-looking plans to develop and deploy relevant new digital and technology solutions; and work to ensure adoption and durability of those solutions.
- Provide stewardship and effective management of digital and technology resources and investments.
- Communicate the company’s digital and technology capability strategy and architectures to the executive team, top management and staff.
- Evolve and run the Architecture and Engineering practices / disciplines within the function. Drive, orchestrate, and ensure standard processes across the community of solution architects and engineers commensurate with industry standards and scaled agile methodologies.
- Establish and maintain effective architecture and engineering governance for digital and technology capabilities controls and provide leadership at the enterprise level.
- Accountable for all domains of architecture (e.g., business, application, data, technology/infrastructure).
- Build awareness, increase knowledge and drive adoption of modern technologies and architecture patterns.
- Manage digital and technology capabilities continuity and connectivity, overseeing maintenance, compliance and security of existing systems and development of new solutions as the company expands virtually, internationally, and to new locations
- Develop systems and component architectures and APIs that meet the test of time and align to our enterprise-wide standards.
- Attract & build great technical talent and influence organizational change to continuously re-tool the skills within the organization to meet technology and business environment changes.
- Be a role model and mentor to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our architecture and engineering communities.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience
Or
Master’s degree and 8 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Substantial leadership experience in driving both enterprise and solution architecture development commensurate with industry standard frameworks and methodologies that have demonstrated impactful business value.
- Over 4 years functioning at a senior level working with executives on strategy, architecture, and implementation roadmaps. Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interaction skills, including ability to efficiently communicate architectural issues and concepts to technical and non-technical people at multiple organization levels.
- Deep and broad technical skills in architecture, development (e.g., CI/CD, DevOps), and operations /monitoring (e.g., observability); cloud platforms/services; enterprise data constructs; and advanced analytics / machine learning.
- Developed architecture and engineering specifications at both enterprise and solution levels for large/complex organizations and can articulate the full range of utility of the specifications.
- Over 3 years of implementing and lead architecture and/or engineering best practices across an organization. Thorough understanding and experience using industry standards and frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, SEI).
- Able to lead to influence, inspire, and impact. Influential leader with deep technology expertise, and a collaborative style that brings others into the decision-making process.
- Business-savvy leadership, strategic problem solver, and pragmatic application of architecture and engineering teams within a scaled agile environment.
- Passionate technologist and abreast with industry trends and innovation.
- Over 4 years managing / leading architects and engineers throughout the system life cycle, from strategy/conceptualization through to support and technology refresh

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $171,120 to $195,579.
