Director, HRBP - Corporate Functions: Finance, Business Development & Global Location Strategies

In this vital role you will lead the Human Resources activities for the Finance SLT & Finance organization as well as the Business Development function. You will directly support 7 Vice Presidents in the Finance organization with global and operating model complexities; and 1 or more SVP/CEO Staff leader(s) to help achieve key business objectives and increase the effectiveness of their organizations. You will also act as the main point of contact for the Corporate Functions to explore and deliver on the people-related initiatives associated with our global location strategy, including India, working cross-functionally with other HRBPs, COE’s, finance partners, business leaders as well as external consultants, as applicable. The successful candidate will report directly to the VP, HR – Corporate Functions.
This position provides the opportunity to develop solutions to a variety of complex HR challenges in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This HRBP will use well-developed HR consulting skills to help their business clients achieve key business objectives and increase the effectiveness of their organization. They will coach clients on a variety of HR and business-related issues to effect change in the organization.

This role can be located locally in a hybrid local capacity to the Thousand Oaks area OR remote within the United States but must have the ability to work PT hours or relevant, based on business needs.
Additional responsibilities include leading in partnership with the relevant HR centers of expertise as well as HR Business Partners around the globe; leadership development, talent management, compensation strategies, engagement and retention, culture, and ongoing organizational design/workforce strategy initiatives. In addition to developing and retaining top internal talent, the HRBP also will play a meaningful role in partnering with Amgen’s talent acquisition organization to identify and attract top external talent to key leadership and staff roles.
Have people leadership responsibilities – through direct reporting and/or projects and initiatives.
Combine data and people insights to coach and guide clients on HR and business-related issues to shape and affect positive change in the organization, including: Strategy clarification, organization design, change management, talent development, team / organizational effectiveness and workforce planning.
Shape and foster a high performing and highly engaged culture. Lead talent management processes to strengthen leadership pipeline.
Partner with DI&B colleagues to ensure alignment and drive Amgen’s diversity and inclusion strategies and initiatives.
Partner with leaders to acquire, develop, engage and retain talent. Ensure talent management and succession planning activities for client groups for purpose of identifying leadership gaps and solutions.
Lead large scale change by partnering and collaborating with leader’s cross-functionally and across therapeutic areas.
Support the delivery of HR initiatives, identifying and managing opportunities in their client group to support the achievement of strategic goals
Stay current on leading talent trends and deliver practical and insightful thought leadership, including the development and personal growth of our people, with the objective of enabling our people to excel.
Actively contribute to and collaborate with the broader HR team – sharing knowledge and practices that will help HR be more effective to the entire organization
Supervise, mentor and coach others to ensure client support success and continued development and improvement of organization.
What we expect of you
We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The Human Resources professional we seek is a seasoned, experienced, and savvy leader with these qualifications. The level of HR experience and breadth of leadership capabilities necessary to deliver both strategically and operationally in this role will likely come from previous experience in similarly leveled roles partnering with multiple senior leaders with varying styles.
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Human Resources experience
OR
Master’s degree and 7 years of Human Resources experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Human Resources experience
MBA or Master's degree with emphasis in such areas as organizational development, management, human resources, employee/labor relations, or equivalent.
10 years of experience in Human Resources handling complex issues in a fast paced, rapidly changing, high technical or pharmaceutical biotech environment
3 years of similar HRBP experience with proven success at the Director level
Broad understanding of and appreciation for all human resources components
Demonstrated ability to understand business needs and develop strategic and practical solutions to tangible business challenges, sound knowledge of applicable employment laws, regulations, and business practices related to the field of Human Resources
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities, adapt to ever changing demands, and possess an intellectual curiosity, desire and ability to understand the business.
Enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment
Strong internal and external customer service focus
Passion for innovative HR solutions and process improvement
Strong analytical, problem solving, consulting, and project management skills

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
