What are the responsibilities and job description for the BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST (BOARD CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR ANALYST) position at Amherst-Pelham Regional School District?
We are seeking a candidate for a Behaviorist Specialist (BCBA) for the Amherst Pelham School District to provide services for elementary age students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and/or significant behavioral needs. The position is at Fort River School which houses two specialized special education district based programs. The primary responsibilities will include assessments, Team participation and IEP development, development and implementation of behavioral plans, direct services to students, consultation to staff, staff training and participation in the school based Behavioral Health Team and ASD/Behavioral districtwide group. The Behavior Specialist (BCBA) will function as a support to the special education specialized program and may also have a consultation caseload for students not in specialized programs.
The BCBA will serve as the point person for teams and administrators seeking assistance in developing strategies and interventions to support progress of identified students. The BCBA will work collaboratively with teachers to provide support, training, and consultation. The BCBA will provide consistent classroom observation and feedback sessions to support individual teacher professional improvement needs by modeling and pre-/post-reflection. The BCBA will support teachers in the implementation of behavioral support plans, support student inclusion in the general education setting, collection and analysis assessment data, and development of intervention strategies.
The BCBA will communicate and collaborate with families to assist with the students generalization of skills. Qualifications: BCBA preferred Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Special Education Teachers License at the appropriate level preferred if have not completed BCBA certification Expertise with assessment to include FBAs Expertise in development and implementation of behavior plans Expertise in Applied Behavioral Analysis Expertise in development and implementation of data collection system Knowledge and understanding of social/emotional and mental health issues Familiarity with trauma informed practices Strong positive, interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with students, staff and families Highly effective oral and written communication skills Highly effective time management skills Strong case management skills Bilingual and bi-cultural candidates are preferred The Amherst Public, Amherst-Pelham Regional and Pelham Public School Districts prohibits discrimination against employees, and applicants for employment on the bases of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, gender identity, religion, reprisal, genetic information and where applicable, political beliefs, marital status, familial or parental status, sexual orientation, or all or part of an individual's income is derived from any public assistance program, or protected genetic information in employment.
