Senior Quality Technician

Primary Purpose of the Job:  Works in conjunction with the Quality Manager/Engineer and performs a variety of technical assignments that impact the design, manufacturing, test, calibration, efficiency, and application of the company’s products. 

Specific Duties:

  • Inspect parts and assemblies, assign status, document results, and distribute all quality records
  • Advise on quality control for materials, packaging, and finished products.
  • Read blueprints and designs to identify conformity or deviation from desired specifications and document results.
  • Assist engineering group with process improvement, material qualification, and other quality related projects.
  • As required by the business, works with various products, equipment and disciplines to increase production, quality, efficiency, volume and/or environmental suitability.
  • Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; performs CMM layouts and measurements and inspection to print specification with Quality lab equipment. Creates gage instructions when applicable
  • Reviews control plans and PFMEA’s for production programs.
  • Performs SPC data collection and documentation per customer requirements.
  • Performs quality audits per standard requirements and document results and maintain records of such.
  • Assist quality team in the creation and maintenance of all quality related documents.
  • Carry out duties per IATF 16949 and ISO14001 requirements and verify quality systems throughout the company

 Required Training, Knowledge and Experience:

  • In depth knowledge of area of specialty including applied and developmental knowledge of a complex technical nature, as may be evidenced by a 2 year degree in the applied sciences.

 Experience:

  • Equivalent experience, including a proven performance record as an inspector may be accepted

Essential Functions:

  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Good Communication and team-building skills.
  • Using required test, measurement and analytical equipment, performs quality control inspections, checks and tests during the manufacturing process.
  • Gathers correlates and applies technical information and data to increase production, quality, experience, volume, environmental suitability, and/or applicability of company products.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of Quality. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
  • Works with various products, equipment and disciplines to increase production, quality, efficiency, volume and/or environmental suitability. 

Critical Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds and frequently carries up to 30 pounds.
  • Maneuvers in, around, under, and about factory and/or laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
  • Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
  • Works at telephone answering equipment and at a PC.
  • Works within an automotive component manufacturing office and laboratory setting and is exposed to heat, cold, wet, and fumes/chemicals.
  • May be required to travel to plant and/or customer sites.
