Director, Tax

Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer and Controller, this position will be responsible for leading the day-to-day tax compliance, accounting and reporting activities in the U.S. for the Company. This includes overseeing the tax compliance, consolidated tax provision and corporate income tax accounting and reporting and other adhoc projects. This position will also be responsible for providing strong project management support with regard to the tax governance and structure over the Company’s global organization.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Provide leadership and oversight for U.S tax matters, strategic financial advice and analyses, including modeling
2. Establish, administer, oversee, and maintain tax policies, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance across tax obligations including, but not limited to, income tax preparation, tax compliance, sales and use tax, property tax, excise tax, owner/shareholder distributions, and tax audit management
3. Review and oversight of the accurate completion of all domestic returns by providing guidance and direction to outside partners, including tax audit support
4. Review and oversight and preparation of the quarterly and annual global tax provision in accordance with ASC740 to ensure accurate and timely tax accounting and disclosure; evaluate valuation allowances, APB 23 and uncertain tax positions
5. Implementation, monitoring and documentation of transfer pricing policies
6. Work closely with outside partners to develop short- and long-term strategies; accurately communicate the organization’s plans, needs, and concerns to outside partners and translate the strategies to actionable implementations
7. Interact directly with auditor tax team and stay abreast of legislative changes and the associated impact on ASC740
8. Ensure Company’s compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements, including monitoring the execution of tax and treasury policies, procedures and controls
9. Partner with cross functional teams by serving as the subject matter expert as it relates to tax
10. Provide support to the Accounting, Finance, Legal, Technical Operations, Commercial, Business Development and other teams as it relates to tax and due diligence issues for acquisitions, mergers, reorganizations and structuring
Requirements
Educational Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting and/or Masters of Tax
Professional Work Experience Requirements
• Qualified CPA with at least 15-20 years of relevant tax experience, preferably with a combination of Big 4 public accounting firm and U.S./corporate tax department
• A strong working knowledge of accounting for income taxes
• Experience with tax needs of global legal entity structure
• Experience operating in a regulated (SOX) environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to perform critical analysis, prioritize and problem solve
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to foster a collaborative, team environment
• Strong organizational skills and have attention to detail
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change
• Attitude of being highly motivated and proactive
• High level of proficiency working with MS Office 365 Suite with strong Excel skills, experience developing complex analyses with VLOOKUP, pivot tables and/or macros, as needed.
