AMP is hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineer reporting to the Director of Hardware Engineering in Louisville, CO, with a weekly mix of in-office and work from home days. In this role, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for rapid prototyping and testing as well as the transition of prototypes to scaled production. Additionally, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for novel recycling technologies design and will orchestrate tests based on defined metrics and success criteria.
As a Mechanical Engineer at AMP, you will have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate closely with a small engineering team to design and develop autonomous waste handling systems.
- Conduct rapid prototyping and testing of mechanical designs, iterating to meet performance requirements.
- Lead the transition of prototypes to scaled production, ensuring seamless integration of novel recycling technologies.
- Orchestrate tests based on defined metrics and success criteria, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
- Communicate effectively across engineering and non-engineering disciplines, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent combination of technical experience and work experience.
- 1-5 years of industry experience in mechanical engineering roles, with a strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Proficiency in CAD design, with experience in SolidWorks preferred.
- Strong hands-on skills for building and testing prototypes, with a keen ability to learn complicated concepts quickly.
- Eagerness to learn, adaptability, and a driven mindset to succeed in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Ability to persevere through challenges and demonstrate reliability in meeting project deadlines.
- Team-oriented approach with excellent communication skills and a willingness to take ownership of projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in system design and analysis, particularly in thermodynamics and fluids.
- Exposure to research and design processes, preferably in the context of waste management or recycling technologies.
- Experience working with large industrial equipment, such as material recovery facilities (MRFs).
- Passion for the environment and recycling, with demonstrated experience in related projects or initiatives.
- Knowledge or experience with robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence.
- Previous involvement in startup environments and a track record of contributing to their success.

Salary & Compensation Information: $100,000 - $124,000 per year
Equity Grant: The candidate selected for this role will be recommended for a stock option grant commensurate with the position and the candidate’s qualifications.
