Director, Memory Firmware Engineering

The Role:

We are seeking a Director, Memory Firmware Engineering to join our team. This position is a software management position which is responsible for system software activities specifically driving system level engineering from firmware to operating system.

What You'll Do

• Manage a firmware engineering team that delivers the execution, optimization, and strategy for domain level firmware with an emphasis on the memory domain
• Define Ampere firmware that interlocks for a complete solution from SoC firmware to the operating system, translating these into requirements and driving execution with internal and external partners
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members
• Build systems and tools to root-cause, optimize and drive system software changes
• Define and monitor the right measures to improve firmware architecture, design, and implementation
• Create ways to bring software, tools, and material to the industry to share with developers

What You’ll Bring

You will bring your software management experience and have opportunity to drive a team to both develop and build software for Ampere and influence our firmware roadmap and engineering methodologies. This position will work in strong collaboration with product marketing, hardware engineering and design teams to define and deliver in the following areas:

• 12 years of experience managing teams including experience managing Software/Firmware Engineers
• Input and support for external messaging, customer engagements, launch collateral
• Pre and post silicon analysis of design trade-offs between firmware and hardware in collaboration with architects and designers
• Contributions and support for other teams as part of silicon bring-up
• Training and support of FAE/PAE teams
• Investigation of customer system level issues
• Development and release of memory subsystem firmware for internal use and use by customers
• Knowledge of process and technology through hardware bring up which includes microcontrollers, SoC, device drivers, power management, ARM processors, file systems, boot loading, firmware, system BIOS or hardware/software integration.
• Knowledge of memory subsystem and memory subsystem initialization
• Experience with analysis of firmware and system level software interlock interaction
• Experience partnering with highly technical engineering teams to solve open ended issues

Education:

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Benefits and Pay

Ampere offers a competitive total rewards package that includes base pay, bonus, stock, and comprehensive benefits. The full base pay range for this role is between $186,000 and $310,000, except in the San Francisco Bay Area where the range is between $191,000 and $318,000.
